Packet loss in overwatch

Hi everyone,

I’ve been having a recurring issue in Overwatch where, during a match, I suddenly start experiencing severe packet loss. When it happens, the game becomes extremely laggy/freezes for a few seconds and I essentially can’t play normally.

What’s strange is that my ping itself isn’t necessarily very high (usually around 100 ms), so this doesn’t seem to be a normal high-ping issue. I’m connected via Ethernet, and my internet connection appears to be stable otherwise.

The issue seems to be specifically related to the connection to the Overwatch servers. It happens intermittently while playing rather than constantly.

I’ve already tried the usual troubleshooting steps, including restarting my PC/router and flushing my DNS cache, but the issue has returned.

Has anyone else experienced this recently, particularly in Europe/Greece? Is there anything else I can test to determine whether this is an ISP/routing issue or something on Blizzard’s side?

I can also provide screenshots of the packet loss when it happens.

Thanks!

EU has a separate forum, so you’re more likely to get feedback about connections on that continent over there. This forum supports NA/OCE.

im also getting the packet loss icon constantly since the patch. ord1 server
i start out at about 44ms (40ms is my normal) then slowly reach up to 90ms about minute into the match

ORD1 and GUE4 are completely unstable. Not even worth logging on if you play these servers, and that’s not me being dramatic. Your games will be constant ping spikes and server instabilities.

There’s something severely wrong with the routing for Ow servers over the past 3 weeks. Started with the patch that brought LW back in and is getting worse and more intense as time passes.

No issues with either server here. Your ISP controls your routing, not Blizzard. Try a VPN and it will probably resolve.
