Packet loss and latency problems ~ causes?

Hello everyone. I would like to receive technical support :frowning: since 2-3 days I am experimenting yellow icons (the tunder and the cards) every second, BUT I don’t see delay or lag… just sometimes I experiment peak of 200-300 ms for some seconds, (I have usually 50-60 ms). What Can I do to check why I get packet loss? To see if Is a router problem, PC… ? Thanks !

Heya Velena!

We tend to use a program called winMTR to check for this. Grab the tool, find the server IP you’re connected to, and run the test for a whole match while you’re playing. If you don’t catch latency spikes during that match, stop the test, get your new server IP from your next match, and repeat until you catch a problem. Once you have a problem caught in the test, finish your match and post the results here.

If you get an error about not posting links, you can resolve this by putting the test between two ` tags (same key as the tilde on an english keyboard ~)

It'll look like this.

Hello Drak, thanks for the fast reply. I made some tests yesterday. Here the results:

WinMTR https://pastebin.com/xGykpusK
Looking Glass https://pastebin.com/fMFRL1uh
Screenshot in game https://ibb.co/7nzkpCC
Traceroute (executed not in game, but using OW ip I found here in the forum) https://pastebin.com/8LpTsQ9c

If the loss being reported is correct, it looks like 10-20% data loss on just the first few hops, and 249ms response on the hop after those, all of which would cause what you mentioned.

Hi Nicole. What Can I do to see what causes my packet loss? I called my provider and they said there Is nothing weird for them, connection Is good (I have good connection Speed/download… as usual) :frowning:

If the packet loss values are always the same, then this is just a defense mechanism on these lines to avoid DDoS attacks. You can run a few tests on your own and see if the loss % changes, but from the results you shared, this is their lines showing the issue. Your provider may have acceptable thresholds for what they consider a problem, so you may want to forward these tests to them to prove your case.
