OW2 made it obvious that support players were the bottleneck

Says the guy that made the most bait title ever…lul good one OP. Hilarious. Pepega Clap

Nice 0 IQ response with twitch lingo kid.

Thanks, but I’ll just put it in plain old English for you: your post is trash. I hope that is easier for you to understand.

<3

I’ll translate into your range as well: Worthless low quality reply that contributes nothing

Your OP post is subjective hot garbage, and you know it. It adds nothing of value. You can’t show any data, you have no numbers to back up any of the drivel your mouth is spitting out. It is purely conjectured at best.

You made a bait title. You ONLY play the most broken support in the game right now, and all your posts show it.

Make a low quality post and expect to get low quality responses. Sit.

Moira is the most broken?
Sit?
How old are you? 5? or just a lbieral?

Haha! Can’t refute it, so time to randomly bring up politics??? Wow! Absolute joke of a thread. You can have the last word or whatever, as you’re worthless to me tiny little man.

I knew it, it’s always easy to tell with how these stuck up people use slang, like a checkbox or clockwork.

“Sit”, twitch lingo, personal attacks, belittling language in general, condescending tone in all your comment history, garbage use of “<3” and obvious lack of humour even though you’re obviuosly trying to be funny.

I’ve played support in OW1 competitive for 1000’s of hours since launch. I also played OW2 in beta. I would agree that support doesn’t feel very good in beta. Feels like a DPS free-for-all right now. Tanks feel good but I wish there were still 2 of them still. Then it would really feel like a tanking line, DPS line, and backline support.

Support has really suffered, and I really hope Blizzard does something to make support feel better in OW2. I will play support in OW2 even in their current state. But I really hope they do something to help us out. I play support because I like to heal my team and support their damage.

I heard in another thread a suggestion to make healers the primary source of CC in the game. I think that would be a really good strategy for Blizzard. It accomplishes two objectives. CC is removed from most players in the game, and healers are able to defend themselves from flankers. Plus they can contribute to the team fight with offensive CC’s.

I think this would be a good direction for the support role without turning them into DPS that sometimes heals.

I feel like Moira and Mercy are really good and safe picks for now with all their mobility and survivability.

What makes the role unfit for OW2 is that it didn’t get adjusted at all.
On the one hand, you are often “prey” to the enemy team, but certain abilities such as sleep and antinade have 0 place in a game when it can completely shut down the only tank the opposing team has.

I don’t think giving them more CC is the option.
CC is what makes the game extremely annoying to play, regardless of which role you pick.

Imagine these extremely high value targets that are already far in the backline also having more access to CC.
A good answer would be to tone down on hypermobility and oneshots, but seeing how blizzard added both of those things in Sojourn I have little hope of them understanding the aspects that ruin their game’s enjoyment.

I was thinking something very similar but an offensive Upgrade Pack instead. Actually already have notes on it written up.

Upgrade Pack (replaces Repair Pack)
Single charge. Duration: 8s. CD: 10s. Upgrade Pack increases an ally’s RoF and melee speed (swings per second) by 15%. In addition to rapid-fires and semi-autos, the RoF buff includes scoped charge up speed, bow draw speed, beam ticks and non-AoE HPS for support allies. Melee speed includes both quick melee and attacks like Rein’s hammer, Genji’s Dragonblade, Brig’s Rocket Flail, etc. Brig can tap the button to send it to a teammate, or she can hold the button to consume the pack and buff herself.

I rest my case. Twentycharacters.

You have to look to yourself in OW2. Supports have to deal with tanks and dps (and even supports) in their face all the time. Try and minimize your damage taken, and the supports will be able to help you out.

iddqd about suport balancing

The post title and iddqd’s thoughts line up. You had these players grow comfortable for years (behind shields, healbotting etc.) and now that they are forced to play a more active role, they can’t provide what’s necessary, therefore being a bottleneck.

DPS and Tank players have been placed under pressure for years, especially tanks, so they are more used to being active contributors in general.

Correct, and this is a competitive game, the point is to improve, and then you have fun of your effort.

Having played all 3 roles a lot I can say that it used to be the least obvious when supports “threw”. Unless you rewatch the vods.

Firstly, positioning mistakes are not exclusive to the role, but it’s so crucial that they stay alive the longest that it ends up hurting the team the most.

Secondly, you don’t notice as much when an Ana whiffs crucial shots here and there or when healing isn’t focused on the right target, but they make a world of difference.

In ow2 everything is more highlighted, bad support positions get punished harder and cost the team way more.
Less players also means it’s more impactful when you lose someone, especially if it’s the main guy that’s supposed to keep the team alive.

Been playing more OW2 and I agree that supports need to rethink their positioning a little. I’d argue we need to be less in the melee fights if our kits enable us the range and if our team can’t secure kills.

I’ve been noticing ppl complain a little about Ana or Zen being too far back, but I don’t think that’s inherently bad positioning. If our team cant get picks while support is in the thick of it, it makes sense to swap off to a range healer who can stay alive longer and distance heal, vs sticking to a close range healer who gets picked off almost immediately. This applies in reverse too. If at range you’re dying or your team keeps disappearing from LoS, try close range healer.

Support cannot outheal damage though, and the missing shield doesn’t just make it rough for us but also for DPS who have habits too. Ppl make it sound like only the support used shields, but I keep seeing DPS just standing in the open trying to secure kills. If they’re good, they secure the kills and we push. If they’re bad, they die and blame support if they’re salty.

tldr: Range support isn’t bad. Support do need to rethink positioning, but same with DPS who have similar habits. Stop DPSing in the open unless you’re actually able to secure kills. Reminder that support cannot outheal damage and there’s less/no shields for you to back up into, so support AND dps alike need to fight around cover.

edit: “less/no shields” because sooometimes there’s a shield tank out there.

I’ve played well over 1000 hours of comp in OW1 as support. I also played beta OW2. I agree with OP that support doesn’t feel rewardable in OW2. I personally play support to heal my team, boost their damage output, and reduce their damage input.

Blizzard, please keep with your original philosophy of the game and what makes Overwatch unique versus all the other FPS games on the market. If you’re not good at aiming, it’s okay, Overwatch has heroes that are good despite not having good aim. If you love healing and not doing DPS, that’s okay, Overwatch has heroes that supports that playstyle. Please Blizzard keep allowing this playstyle in OW2.
