Most pros don’t have big stream presences so it’s likely that they don’t even make their opinions public most of the time.
Whether someone is considered to be the best content creator or not is very subjective. I watch some of SVB’s content and I also know how many people watch it. It’s likely due to not being very popular that he wasn’t invited and needed someone to vouch for him.
Seagull was a big personality during the time but he wasn’t the sole reason why Mercy was reworked, it’s not that the DEVs sat down and watched a seagull video and made the decision based on it. I’m assuming you are talking about the april fools card and I genuinely don’t understand why people keep bringing it up, if anyone were at fault for it it was the OWL/DEVs for not setting the right expectations for the participants and the community. You can’t blame people for making dumb suggestions for a card that’s supposed to be all about dumb things.
If it was the other way around and pros/content creators read through the the forums for dumb suggestions and mocked them people would immediately cry toxic.
The fact that one person made it without their career being damaged is not really in any way a reason to create an environment for people to be openly toxic towards someone else. Just pick any controversial content creator or pro and talk about them here and you’ll get a variety of colorful comments on how awful they are as a person for opinions they hold over a video game.
I don’t remember the Lucio thing and I also don’t really care that a pro doesn’t know that Mei doesn’t have a secondary ammo. There are many fairly common things about the game that the average player doesn’t know which said out loud would probably seem just as ridiculous.
I don’t think the community can do better and the amount of mods you’d have to add to forum when the general rule of thumb for forums is that you have to find a very small amount of gold in a mountain of feces, is simply not worth it. There’s a reason why Riot shut down their official board for LoL. The DEVs would be far better off doing the same and keep discussions on reddit where there’s already better moderation and it’s easier to find popular suggestions and skip the bad ones as the community will handle that.
