Soooo its a safe space for most groups but gamers? Why does OW insist so hard of punishing gamer culture?
Don’t wanna hear from a person? Mute him and you achieved the same as if he where banned but faster… Better is even if you get a genuine toxic person banned they go to the account creation page and make a new account and boom they can talk in your game again.
If Blizz just promotes muting toxic communication then actual toxic people will end up being muted by pretty much everyone and all they end up doing is screaming into a void.
Blizzard indeed does not give 1 bit about anyone, they just pretend to do to appease the loudest groups.
Like if they really cared about some issues why are all the “gender flags” banned in Poland and the Middle east as if you equip them they wont even see them if the account is made in ME or Poland.
Um, yeah…but just because it’s your mom does not mean that it’s not someone else’s mom also…
If you told a your mom joke to your sister, you would still be talking about someone else’s mom (in this case, your sister would be that someone else).
My first takeaway: Majority of ppl here are chill and get what I meant. I had a good laugh at the mama jokes, so thanks for that. Some are rather thin-skinned and think the system rocks, thankfully only the minority. It kinda relieves me that I’m not the only one who has been affected by the new policies after 8 years of having a clean slate.
My second takeaway: I’ll deactivate chat and only use it when I’m playing with friends. Learned through this thread that I can deactivate team chat and keep party/friend/whisper chat. I’ll just team up more with people and play less solo Q. I’ll also limit the use of my tactical voicelines. I enjoy playing the game. Even after 8 years, I keep playing it, loving it, having a blast, but I am really sad that the snowflake protection program is going to these lengths where a (like another poster here pointed out really well) Stasi-like situation intoxicates the community to a whole new level. “You did something to slightly disturb my fragile peace, I’ll report you. Or my whole team will report you.” - Don’t get me wrong. I login to the “thanks for reporting toxic ppl” screen every day usually. But if I’m living in a world where I’m so offended by a “ffs” or a politely put “please switch off you’re 0-0-24”, then I’m happy that that’s not real life but just the Overwatch cosmos.
Best case was ƁǾŦŦǬM5ǾǾ who threatened to report my new accounts (even though I never intended to make a new account) after my ban (I was never banned). That’s false reporting, fella. It fits the shoe as you probably didn’t read or understand my post but wanted to contribute something even if it’s just a toxic post about reporting me. Guess what, I reported your post for that reason alone. It’s just not cool. I wanna learn and better myself and you just throw some threats out because I guess it makes you feel empowered lmao.
Still hoping that Blizzard get their s*it together and loosens up on this. You can’t make up for all the in-company shenanigans with a double standard where Cassidy, who has been renamed because his name-giving dev had harrassed colleagues, still wears “BAMF” on his belt buckle but I get suspended for saying the f-word. I want Overwatch to be a safe space too, but not some bot-moderated battlefield where mass reports can be abused so easily.
I mean there was that thread where they were convinced a silver moira was hacking, so yeah I’d be a little insulted if I wasn’t getting reported.
My last game I popped an invisible Sombra out of stealth twice on my first shot. I guarantee that 3 stack reported me. Still hasn’t hit whatever threshold it needs to but I’m sure it’s just a matter of time.
Honestly, I report anyone who dares to showcase their Season 1 avatar.
Why you may ask? Because I am spiteful and jealous that they haven’t been reported into oblivion for ridiculous crap and still have it.
You think I’m joking but I am not.
Until Blizzard changes their fruity report system, I’m using and abusing it.
Don’t like the hero you’re playing? Reported.
Don’t like you won the game? Reported.
Don’t like you played my main hero better than me? Reported.
Don’t like your avatar? Reported.
Don’t like you didn’t use 2 undercased g’s when saying gg? Reported.
Don’t like how you sprayed or emoted after killing me? Reported.
Don’t like how you didn’t get into voice chat? Reported
Don’t like how you were the reason we lost the game? Reported.
Don’t like the suggestion you made? Reported.
Tally enough of these reports up and it works, whether or not they are warranted.
