OW1 or OW2? Please vote

The comments on that Reddit are even worse copium than these forums…

“Lots of people like tanking in OW1” then where are they? Because they clearly aren’t queueing for tank LOL

Like Diablo Immortal “failed”? Dude you have no idea…

Wow it’s like every single person who supports OW2 in this thread is a troll. Like seriously. You’re allowed to like a game that’s objectively bad all you want. No one is saying you can’t. But straight up lying about the facts of the game, trying to false advertise that it’s something it’s not is just wrong.

OW2 is nothing like Overwatch at launch. They are so different it’s literally another game. The game modes are different, the combat is different, the amount of players in a match are different, the maps are different, the heroes, how they function generally, individually, and their total count are all different.

The games are not the same. Why do you think Blizz went as far as to entirely rename OW2? This is like calling StarCraft and StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty the same games, lol

You never played OW at launch then. I did.

OW2 is more like launch OW than current OW1 has been for the past 3 years.

OW at launch was fast paced, chaotic, low sustain, way more deathmatchy than OW1.

OW2 is all of those things.

Us launch players who stuck around have had to watch the game get more and more unfun and less like original Overwatch. The rest of the players just straight up quit to find more fun games.

And yet it stills PLAYS and FEELS more like launch OW than current OW1 does. So that’s saying something.

Because they are adding an entire PvE game?

Because we like OW2 and disagree with you we are trolls? You cant handle that we are right and that the devs agree with us. Or the other way around. Its kind of sad that you cant see it.

Again, liking OW2 isn’t trolling. Lying about it is. Read the post and understand the context before replying, please. Oh wait, I forgot. You’re trolling.

I know exactly that those were the heroes you were going to list and what others you would list as well.

Going back to my point, only a handful of heroes changed significantly. Out of the existing roster the vast majority are close to what they were, most of them got changes that made the better/viable.

A lot of those hero changes are also things that happened in live OW, not OW2.
If you actually take a look at the list, how many of those heroes were actually limited by what made them unique? They were so niche that calling it a niche wouldn’t even justify how bad they were. Some of them improved, some of them were already so bad in concept that they still haven’t figured out how to make them decent.

If we take a list of the heroes that changed and look at how they perform now vs. their original version.

Symmetra - arguably better in current live OW compared to her OG version. They messed up in OW2.

Torbjorn - So much better in live OW, took a hit in OW due to the overhealth change.

Bastion - Just better. You literally don’t just have to sit still and be a turret playing tower defense and you don’t require your entire team to pick around you to do anything unless you are some top 500 Bastion 1 trick who figured it out. There’s a new ability that allows you to do the rocket jump tech that you could only do in the previous ult.

Mei - Doing fine in OW2 without her freeze as we see in the pro scene. Still works in brawl/rush because her main team utility was and still is the wall. You can more or less kill people with her primary fire within the same amount of time it would take you to fully freeze and right click someone because of the damage increase.

Reaper - Lost soul orbs which was bloody useless and gain life steal on shots instead. He’s good now.

D.va - Awful when her Defense Matrix wasn’t resource based, changing that made her S-tier.

Mercy - lost Mass Rez but became the Moth god. As much as people whine about losing Mass Rez, current Mercy is just better than OG Mercy.

Orisa - One of the most boring heroes to play that some people enjoyed because they felt they could do something without really putting any effort or thought into it. One of the most fun tanks to play atm.

Doomfist - Absolutely atrocious hero design, literally all his techs are based off of untended mechanics that has now come to define how you play him and is a niche hero that you can only play if you consume endless amount of educational content and spend hours practicing in custom maps. Largely hated by the overall community for his ridiculous combos that just kill you without a chance to fight back.
Making him a tank and reducing the damage made him far more enjoyable to play against and made him a good dive tank.

OW at launch being a faster paced game with less sustain is factual.

Literally the primary similarity, except for the games’s names. I will read your wall now.

I am not and trying to have a serious discussion here but you make it hard because you are so biased that you cant even see that you are in the wrong. OW2 and launch OW1 have a lot more in common than launch OW1 and current OW1.

We are not lying. I understand the context but you are just wrong. OW2 PvE is the “real OW2”. We are currently in the phase of OW PvP 2.0. The naming was bad but hey. The result is good.

And the one that matters because that’s what OW has been missing for years due to way too much sustain, CC, barriers etc being added to the game. A lot of things that are being removed or reduced in OW2.

your previous posts all talk about the store mostly and the game going F2P

why suddenly is it because of gameplay? lol

Yeah because those heroes made up like an entire 1/4 of the cast. I could add more, but admittedly the changes to some didn’t entirely change the heroes like the injustices that happened to the ones I mentioned. (If I had remembered about what they did to poor Orisa though, I would have added her too, tbh. She deserved to have a spot on that list, but I completely spaced her.)

I read your entire post and disagree on all your points, except D.Va and Reaper. Uniqueness and what made characters fun and gave them their identities did not have to be removed just to make said characters more viable. They could have worked with what they had, instead of flushing the heroes that people loved down the toilet, and replacing them with cracked mirror alternatives.

You want to know why people quit? It’s because every hero they enjoyed was ruined. I had even quit for two years after what they did to Sym. I’m back for now, but I can’t even stand to look at Sym, it’s so depressing and still bothers me to this day.

At the end of the day, fun for all, including, and especially for, casuals, is more important than a one percenter’s competetiveness on a hero.

The small pool of forums and Reddit users is hardly going to be a decent sample size.

But I will vote anyway in the name of community.

Sym, Bastion, Torb etc. have never been popular or highly played heroes, y’all are placing a bit too much importance on yourselves. The vast majority of players leaving OW over the years has been due to

  1. Content draught

and

  1. Too much healing, cc, shields, etc. being repeatedly introduced into the game via new heroes and bad balancing

And OW2 fixes both of those points.

Well the people that go to the forum, to Reddit or watch videos are the more hardcore people. So they should be heard because the super casual does not have an opinion.

Content draught is not fixed by OW2. It’s taken them, what like two years now to come out with it? I don’t even know how long. If anything making OW2 is a primary cause of the content draught, lol.

CC is the only problem. People have always been able to play with the same of shields since launch. In fact, even more back then, because you could play triple shield tank if you wanted. Too much healing? Come on, lol. Tanks can die so fast how is too much healing your problem? People don’t play tanks because they die so quickly.

“We don’t like change 'round these parts.”

OW 2 isn’t out or even finished, and OW1 is a game that’s been played by huge numbers of people for 6 years…gee, I wonder which will win the poll?
