which is outright silly to call an “easy mode” i’ll admit. sure it makes the game significantly easier but not in the right ways. trivialising a fight and rendering mechanics useless is not easy mode
do you want to deal more damage, take less damage, or both?
ie. what’s the most challenging aspect of the game for you?
both. just being able to play the game the way its meant to be without the insane difficulty. im a mega man fan and every MM game since Zero 4 and X8 had an easy mode which were reeeallly easy but you can still enjoy the game for what it is. and any other difficulty is REALLY hard. probably harder than ER
That is a contradictory statement lmao.
if ur on playstation i can drop enough runes for you to increase ur hp (vigor) until it’s at a comfortable (and not OP) level and drop a tailsman to buff your defensive stats a lot. most of the difficulty of elden ring in particular is how hard hitting the enemies/bosses are. Maliketh and Malenia gave me PTSD. a simple runes/armor drop could drastically change the difficulty of the game and there’s many people who have runes duped so that you can change ur stats to ur liking.
not really. you’re standing back and sitting around while someone else kills the boss. that isnt using the most of the mechanics. that was my reasoning
i honestly dont even own the game and only played it on a friends PS5. the game is just too hardcore for me
Wanting to play the game the “intended way” without it being difficult is contradictory yes, because the game is intended to be difficult. Like, that’s built into the very core philosophy of the game design.
This isn’t Skyrim. The entire point is to get you to persevere until you eventually succeed.
If you want to just go through every area with no challenge then just download a mod or something and play offline so you don’t get banned. What you’re asking is for Fromsoft to ruin their games for you.
with a little bit of added effort like looking through youtube guides/build setups (creating a build can be fun too) elden ring could be made to be easy, normal, or hardcore difficulty. i agree that summons trivialize the game but applying certain defensive spells, tailsmen, and pumping up ur health stats more could put the game at a healthy difficulty balance for noobs. this is fromsoft’s least hardcore game by far.
tbf i dont see how an offline orthodox easy mode would ruin the game. i was a hardcore player that would go for no hitruns but as long as the easy mode would be separate it wouldn’t affect me.
thats a good way of putting it i guess. but fact is, an easy mode wouldnt affect anyone.
an optional setting isnt gonna ruin anyones game. its mostly single player.
this isnt accessibility. i am HOH and cant listen to youtube talking without crappy autocaptions that dont even work. even then you shouldnt have to do this to enjoy a game.
I’m not saying it would ruin the game altogether for everyone, I’m saying it would ruin the experience that they are trying to convey. Giving people the option to essentially give up and remove the challenge (Beyond the options already available like summons, rune arcs (For Elden Ring) etc.) completely defeats the purpose.
all the youtube guides i followed didn’t have voice audio (it would annoy me that the guy wouldn’t get to the point). you just need to find videos where the person highlights the map position of the item/area u need access to.
i agree u shouldn’t have to do this to enjoy the game but the level of effort required of a noob for them to enjoy the game is very little.
the game has really deep combat, great world, lore and exploration that is 10/10 for all things combined. all these can be enjoyed with an easy mode.
the purpose of a game is to entertain. if noobs like having weak AI to steamroll why shouldn’t they have that option. personally i just thought that fromsoft was too lazy to implement an easy mode seeing how horribly balanced the pvp and some of the bosses are. not that it affects me since i like challenge but letting some noobs have fun couldn’t hurt.
The purpose of a game is to convey an experience.
The option to download mods and deviate the game from how the devs intended it to be played is there.
But as for official options, nah. Let hard games be hard and go play easier games if they don’t suit you.
not really an excuse when everyone endlessly touts ER as the “best game ever made” while people with physical disabilities of any kind are completely left out. and the older gamers with slow reaction times
*convey an entertaining experience.
that being said, games dont have to be targeted to everyone so i dont blame fromsoft for ignoring casuals. but i genuinely cant see a reason beyond them being too lazy to do it for not implementing an offline easy mode.
its easy, their “vision” is to be appealing to exclusively hardcore young, able-bodied gamers.
As with all Fromsoft games, the difficulty greatly contributes to that. Like I said before, it’s literally part of the core design philosophy.
Yes, and the type of entertainment is derived from the type of experience they convey.
For Fromsoft games, it’s about persevering to overcome great challenges.
Edit: Anyway this topic is unsuited to these forums so I’m gonna leave it at that, I feel I’ve said what I came to say
The world of Overwatch feels so… unsuited to any actual live story?
I cannot imagine a situation where all the main characters would be in the same location at once, unlike for TF2 or Apex.
I am really curious how the OW2 story looks just because it sounds like an absolute impossible task. The characters of Overwatch have little to no collective motivations, Omnics seem like the most pressing matter to most of the characters, and that whole storyline is so messy in places that I feel it just needs to be retconned at this point.
When you have characters like Orisa, Zenyatta, Echo, it feels like the story is about how Omnics are real people, right? But the PVE of the game is entirely at odds with this, given that you spend most of your time from what we know gunning down Omnics, which I assume we aren’t meant to treat like they’re real people we’re slaughtering? How do the rules of engagement work for a race who’s sentience is so confusing? Am I killing hundreds of poor rebels fighting for their rights or am I killing soulless automatons?
The Omnic stuff confuses the hell out of me everytime I just try to understand what Blizzard are going for here. Forget what I said, retcon everything. Overwatch is not a story you should think about for any prolonged period of time. Just let me sit in the cozy egg Café on Toronto plz
