Overwatch Teamwork Rant

In a game where there is supposed to be perfect team synergy and great communication, there is NONE of that here, in this game, in comp, there is none of those things, all there is, is toxicity, throwing, smurfs, and more. You’d think this game would bring people together, but that is clearly impossible since no one wants to WORK together. They all think they can do things solo and that’s it. Even higher ranked players think this stupid philosophy that if you solo the game and try to climb that way, you’ll go far. That by far is wrong, dumb and just plain SR suicide. This game RELIES on teamwork and communication, NOT being a lone wolf about it, nor being a bad team player either. Positioning also helps but that’s only if you can work well with your team, otherwise there’s no point.

One of the many things I hope OW2 improves or adds to say the least.

  • More specific VL’s like “Need Healing”
(A larger timer between saying said voicelines.)
  • A ping system, etc.

Something Rainbow Six Siege is doing over this next year. Giving more ability to communicate for those that don’t use mics or VC. :slightly_smiling_face:

To be honest - “learning” that communication skill is also a huge part of persona improvements.
There is also a difference between a Bronze calling out stuff and a GM.

And the higher you climb, the more people work usually together and it feels more like a teamgame.
Oc, there are always black sheep but - who’s even surprised.

here’s my 5c on the topic from a sym main perspective (taken from a thread about how we should think about tp which in the reddit version of the thread, quite a few high ranked and/or notable people agreed with):

For a teamwork game in 2020 a number of 6 to teamwork together, IMHO, is too high, especially for casual players that is the biggest part of the playerbase. Maybe a number of 4 would have been better.

Since most people play solo, they don’t want to babysit or get tired to babysit stranger players that they don’t know or they don’t trust with healing and tanking.

Reducing the number of players decreases the spread focus to babysit people around. Also if the game offered better ways to increase our trust on stranger teammates, like a scoreboard, for us to see our teammates performance.

And the communication, of course. Much is left to be said in voice chat, but a ping system and/or a better communication wheel could really help people in regions with many different languages and people who don’t use voice chat.
