Overwatch PTR Patch Notes – October 31, 2018

A new Overwatch patch is currently in development and now available for testing. To share your feedback or report and issue, please post in the PTR Feedback or PTR Bug Report forums.

Please note that the below patch notes only include changes currently available for testing on the PTR. While many of these changes will also be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in a future patch, the PTR is PC-only and therefore will only reflect changes coming specifically to that platform.

GENERAL UPDATES

General

  • Made changes to improve game stability

HERO UPDATES

Reaper

  • Hellfire Shotguns
    • Spread pattern adjusted

Developer Comments: This is the second component of Reaper’s Hellfire Shotguns adjustments (the prior one reduced spread randomization by 50%). This change brings a couple of Reaper’s pellets from the outer ring into the middle ring and reduces the amount of empty space between rings when firing from further distances.

Okay.
Big size, small fixes.
Logic.

Love seeing these changes being noted.

Optimization and Game Stability improvements is always welcome. Would love to see even more of these in the future wherever possible; up-keeping game performance is a major deal for me.

Keep that stuff coming and I’ll be a happy customer.

It’s great that you have listened to the feedback and adjusted the spread pattern.

Can we get any info on what changes to game stability we should expect?

I think I know why the update size is big, the new hero got added to the game files but is still locked behind encryption

nah new hero would be like 3 gb at least cause they always come with more content.

Who said it was a small change?

testing shows that he’s still less good at higher ranges, ou should just decreased it by 10%

And everyone complained last week because these changes went “live” last week.

Wonderful change! Love seeing that you guys are listening to our feedback.

Well every game you tried getting into would just crash on the PTR. Glad you fixed that lol.

You do realize the initial PTR update that came out last week was 7.8GB?

and even if the models and animations didn’t get added, it might be just the ability code, maybe even the initial couple of voice lines

There is likely not any new character data on the PTR as that could be datamined and therefore leaked before they want it to be revealed (even if just before blizzcon)

The download is likely due to the stability changes requiring a file or data restructuring.

If you noticed during the update, there was a significant portion where it was changing data but it was not downloading any new files (downloading at 0 bytes per second) which means that it’s just rewriting.

We had this happen during a patch a few months ago, where the patch was very large, but had no actual files to be downloaded.
