Overwatch PTR Patch Notes – August 22, 2019

A new Overwatch patch is currently in development and now available for testing! To share your feedback or report and issue, please post in the PTR Feedback or PTR Bug Report forums.

Please note that the below patch notes only include changes currently available for testing on the PTR. While many of these changes will also be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in a future patch, the PTR is PC-only and only reflects changes coming specifically to that platform.

NEW FEATURE: SHARED INSTALL (PTR AND LIVE)

The PTR and Live Overwatch PC clients can now share storage when installed to the same file path on disk. This should reduce the disk space required to install and update multiple clients. As a result, today’s PTR client should require only ~1.2GB of additional disk storage. Players with previous Overwatch PTR clients installed can uninstall and reinstall to a common disk location to benefit from this feature.

Note: Overwatch League Replay Viewer also supports shared installation with the PTR and Live clients.

#3

Symmetra nerfed.
Not surprised but still disappointed

#4

Can the developers at least comment as to why Symmetra needed a damage nerf to all levels of her beam?? This makes no sense.

#5

Obviously, it’s because she was used in OWL that one time, and we can’t have that.

#6

y tho

twenty characters

#7

Lowering Zarya and Symm damage is gonna make shields slower to break. Shield meta gonna be spicy.

I like the beam changes tho

#8

Like base damage could be increased to compensate.

#9

Proof that the devs dont gaf about whats discussed in gen pop

#12

Congratulations on nerfing the worst hero in the game and not doomfist and hanzo!!!

#14

I know right, they shouldn’t of nerfed Sombra :rage:

The workshop changes are nice, but Sombra compensation buffs when???

#16

The Meta: Sigma and Orisa
The only counter: Symmetra
Blizzard: So we LOVE double shield as an meta so lets nerf its only counter so it is stronger.

Why not nerf double shield and them see how symmetra is doing outside of it?

#18

Don’t you love shooting shields all game ?

#19

And nothing for brig and you nerf sym…what the heck is wrong with you guys.

#20

Her and brig both plus symm

#21

Thank you for posting these, Molly.

I’m especially interested in the reasoning behind the various changes to Symmetra and Zarya. I can only assume that this is because according to internal statistics they are doing much more damage within the same (or potentially a slightly lower) time period?

I do really like the beam width buff though, fixes their issue with being pinpoint on low charge (which, while wasn’t a problem for me,) may make Symmetra and Zarya a little bit more viable for the lower ranks.

#22

Great, another ptr update with nothing to fix for brig, thanks blizzard.

#23

I’m gonna be honest- Brig actually isn’t that bad. She’s just niche, just like she was with GOATs and sucking everywhere else.

If you desperately NEED a defensive ultimate (not very common right now in higher ranks, believe it or not)- picking her is a bit of a pain, unless you can get rally on everyone before-hand, and even then it’s risky.

But Brigitte pairs amazingly with Ana, Mercy, and Moira. ESPECIALLY the latter.

#24

What does this mean?

(Btw, thanks for the workshop update)

#25

What? This was a nerf. Her beam is half the width now. Low ranks will find her even less viable.
