Overwatch PTR Patch Notes – February 16, 2021

A new Overwatch patch is in development and now available for testing! To share your feedback or report any issues, please post in the PTR Feedback or PTR Bug Report forums.

Please note that the below patch notes only include changes currently available for testing on the PTR. While many of these changes may also be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in a future patch, the PTR is PC-only and only reflects changes coming specifically to that platform.

  • Updated how important off-screen elements (e.g. an exploding D.Va Mech) are displayed on the screen to make them easier to find

  • Fixed a bug that caused the UI to incorrectly reflect payload progress in rare circumstances

  • Fixed a bug that caused players to become stuck on a specific section of rooftop

  • Fixed a bug with player collision that allowed heroes to move through map geometry

  • Fixed a bug where Earthshatter could be blocked by an Immortality Field that was mid-deploy

  • Fixed a bug where a stun would cancel transformation from Recon mode to Sentry mode

Wrecking Ball

  • Fixed a bug that allowed Piledriver to be used in unintended scenarios after a successful Piledriver

I have completed a quick demonstration of the waypoint changes here. The changes are quite dramatic as they force a more X-asis based approach rather than positional along the Z-axis of the local viewpoint.

Yes! I am so happy this is fixed. Hopefully this means no more Doomfists punching me out of Sentry mode 1 or so second after I visually transform into sentry.

I guess this bug fix also acts like a little buff for Bastion as well. Great stuff.

RIP rooftop Bastion strat :frowning: lol

Honestly that’s kinda cool tho.

And yet Snowball still doesn’t have a big Metal Gear Solid “!” icon on the scree, despite acting just like pulse bomb or D.Va’s mech. Especially since she chucks that thing like a pro NFL player, over half the map and many walls.

I love the removal of super high skill tech from the game

You’re kidding right? That’s like if we let shields bounce dragonblade slices back at Genji.

That is literally completely uncomparable.

It wasn’t an intended mechanism though, and probably isn’t used almost at all.

I imagine the core reason is that it would be impossible for players/casters to visually read that the reason the Earthshatter didn’t do a knockdown was because of invulnerability frames from the Immo field. And it just becomes an arms race where you swap out of Reinhardt if the enemy team has Baptiste because Immo field can be deployed as a perfect counter to Earthshatter.

That kind of technical play just doesn’t visually make sense here, so it’s better to fix the bug instead of leaving the gameplay intact.

I noticed. I…dont think I agree with that change. At least thats my initial reaction. Also I doubt there will be a setting for this. So its not like I have a choice if it goes through.

Yeah, I know. Visually it doesnt make sense. I just wish sometimes they would leave technical stuff like this in.
