The ship has pretty much completely sailed on this. You may as well make a sequel at that point with the amount of work that would have to be done.
EDIT: To be clear, Day/Night adjustments are pretty straightforward, as theyâre basically new maps with the assets cloned and baked for the new time of day. For something like rain though, youâre looking at all-new dynamic lighting, and pretty much every map asset in the game would need to be retooled.
This would be quite the addition. Makes the game feel more alive, we already have Daytime Lijang and Nighttime Nepal and they look great.
Sounds pretty cool. Although itâs even less probable weâll ever get dynamic weather.
Iâd be fine without weather, as long as we got night maps.
He isnât saying the lighting/weather should change during a match. He is saying this would be almost the same as creating a new map.
IMO not worth it.
Welp you canât argue with that. Like literally, you canât argue with that or this whole thing just turns into âyes it is!â âno it isnât!â
It will be a lot of work to create but not impossible.
It can be environmental effects too.
Snow storms in Antartica
Cherry blossom petals floating in Hanamura
Animals running around Eichenwalde
Rain in Kingâs Row
Fireworks in Dorado
Graphically itâd probably kill some computers lol. But they could just make a toggle option for âweatherâ and for low-spec people all theyâd see is the cloud-changes/stuff in the sky that doesnât really move.
Iâd love a snowy map where itâs actually snowing.
Though I donât disagree with the concept of your idea, I think they should give a played side option to choose this sort of thing, for example:
I donât really like daylight maps, so if I had an option to switch them to night/dark mode without affecting anyone else (even if I had to pay for it), Iâd love it. Taste is kinda subjective, so things like these would be good for some people and bad for others, thatâs why Iâd say player side only is better.
yeah would be a nice addition.
We need this 20 chars.
when Overwatrch defeated climate change they stopped the spinning of the earth and weather is always the same everywhere now - its cannon people, please respect the wishes of the author
Well they should do maps with certain weather effects already set to when you load into the map and not transition in between them i mean they are kinda gold rich right now so that wouldnât really be an issue and would make the game better and feel more of a refresh than anything.
This would be amazing
This.
Hanamura became a lot more enjoyable when it was covered in snow. It was fresh and made the map a lot more fun to play on.
FOG! Canât use snipers! =P
No one is going to like losing matches because of annoying weather effects. Some people like me can barely run the game on lower than the lowest settings. So unless you want an option to turn it off then certain people wouldnât be able to play. If you could turn it off then having it on would just put you and your team at a disadvantage.
I would like more maps to be in different times of day. Like the dusk Eichenwalde when Brig came out. I loved how that looked and I wish it stayed. They could only do smaller changes like that on completely new maps, they wouldnât be able to change the pre-existing maps.
While I think it would add some variety, I donât think itâs really necessary and might actually be more of an annoyance.
Just like night and day variants, I think it could be cool in certain cases, but not part of the base game mode.
This would be awesome. I would love to get some cloudy, rainy, and thunderstormy weather.
