thanks for the TLDR lol
yeah, that would be nice as a nerf. Shes already a pain as is.
Ball is hitscan.
1.: Dva? She has the mobillity to close up and is a good pharrah counter
2.: Tanks are designed around having low pick potential on long range, not a single Tanks is likely to kill something at a +15m range. They are not designed to picks, they only suppose zo punish bad position and enable claim/hold space
Dva and Hammond are both hitscan. They’re hitscan in the sense that people forget Reaper is hitscan too.
Now if you want a more Ashe/Soldier like shooting tank I get it.
ball is a hitscan tank, sure its not 100% of his job to take down a pharah, but overwatch is a game where you haft to adapt to whats around you. if you cant there will always be dps with plenty of characters that can take down a pharah
Put Mauga on the field. Make him efficient at cleaning up with hitscan dual LMG’s, but have some ability to keep him alive, as well as a target for enemies to focus. Maybe, make it so under 50% health he overloads, and moves faster and hits harder. Something to make people want to actually focus the tank and burst them down.
That’s the only way a hitscan tank could work in my opinion. Give them too much protection, and bleh, you’ll end up with super sayan sigma most likely.
LMAO

Tracer is hitscan but everyone knows when someone asks for hitscan for pharah we mean ashe widow mccree or s76.
Honestly, all they need to do is given a tank a low fire rate hitscan shot. Imagine a 400hp tank. A close range primary fire for damage. Some self defensive ability that is weak akin to Zarya. An alt fire like Zarya that consumes a high amount of ammo and a low rate of fire. However, it does a base damage of ~70 damage with either extremely low fall off rate Ashe/S76 type range or simply acts like Ana’s hitcan snipe that has no fall off, but can’t headshot.
In OW, only small portion of heroes has hitscan weapon and most of them are DPS. Many of tanks and supps have either projectile or melee weapon.
But I actually think supps and tanks should have hitscan as default weapon, cause …
- Hitscan is notorious about its consistency and if it is combined with burst damage, it easily ruins the game. But supps and tanks have inherently low damage, so the consistency can’t be a problem than burst DPS and
- there are many hypermobile heroes and projectiles/melee simply not effective against them. Auto-like things like Moira or turrets also not a good solution in FPS games. So, if some(not just one or two) tanks and supps have hitscan weapons, they can be a good counter against those dominating hypermobile heroes.
- Hitscan is very popular and some of the popularity of DPS roles are based on those hitscan heroes. Hitscan tanks and supps could also have such popularity perhaps?(But it should feel good. Snappy like McCree’s left click or something like that.)
Maybe Echo, but if a Pharah is dominating then the team getting dominated deserves to lose, Pharah has that many counters nowadays it’s really not hard to shut her down
if there was a tank with a ranged hitscan, what is keeping that tank from staying in the backline? how would that tank create space in ways that arent straight up getting picks? why should that tank ever interact with the enemy frontline besides shooting them from a range?
having a reliable ranged hitscan tank just seems counterintuitive to the tank role imo.
Which is why I hate matchmaking, do everything right, and still lose thanks to potted plants on the team. They’ll co-operate, but only the last 30 seconds.
Maybe steal the mechanic from TF2’s Equalizer, that made Soldier faster and stronger the lower his health is?
The “buff” need to linger around for a second or two in OW instead of being adjusted on the fly, because of how easy it is for us to recover health in the blink of an eye.
I’ve gotten that allot before.
They are when they make all but a few projectile DPS irrelevant because why play them when you can just play the point-and-click adventure heroes and get more value?
d.va is a hitscan tank but considering how useless her weapons are, i bet most ppl don’t even remember she even have anything besides DM and boops.
Yes… but they can’t headshot
Yet, they are more reliable dps wise
D.va is good to attack Pharah.
Tanks have high HP and survivability because they are close ranged. If a tank just snipes from long ranges then he needs to lose a ton of survivability, and then he isn’t a tank…
Pharah just has a trash design imo
Beams can’t headshot. And have a certain range. They deal DOT (damage over time), instead of in large or small bursts.
Armor reduces Beam damage by 30%, for hitscan bullets get their damage reduced by 5 damage per shot if the damage in the bullet is above 10 dmg, or cut in half if the damage is 10 or lower.
