It’s going to be available: November 1, 2022. Edit: October 10, 2023

I feel like people here would be interested in this news.

If someone wants my opinion(which I don’t think people do) it’s like many years late, and I find the constant justification of lore and relationships in retrospect lazy and bad.

But maybe the date indicates that there will be some news around that time about OW2 :woman_shrugging:

I’m looking forward to finally having an official timeline.

Soo its the cancelled First Strike novel/comic basically?

They’ll probably cover what First Strike was going to cover.

I’m surprised that they didn’t pay you for the one you created(or at least i think it was you if I remember correctly).

The one in the book will probably be a more complete version of the one from the Overwatch 2 site.

I think the colector edition of the first game also came with a timeline. This is why I’m speculating that the release date of this book might be an indicator of future news.

I’m eager to see how much I got right (or wrong).

Do you know if this is a comic book or a “short story” with more illustrations spaced out in it?

Based on the description, it seems like it will be a mix of text and illustrations, not a comic book.

This book could be the “fixed” point where the lore begins to unite all the threads it has left over time. I especially hope for those of the teasers of the heroes and the comics. But I do not exclude that there will be a short re-writing of the older products, but it will surely help us to classify the cornology of the more controversial ones in too many details inside (for example the Zarya Research comic)

I’m interested. The kids have been asking about OW universe again.
Thanks for this. Good to know they’re planning a merch rollout, franchise deals, reviews/coverage etc.

OW1 was hype not just from within the game but all the surrounding ecosystem. OW2 will do OK from that perspective as long as people realize the PvP will be meh. The backstory, campaign, PvE, art - all things the team does extremely well.

I edited the original post with the info.

A whole year?! Christ almighty, why do they even bother announcing things like this if the scope of the project is so large they need to delay it that much. I can only imagine this must mean they’re having major story retcons…

damn, that’s a really long time.

at this point I believe that the postponement of the development of the PVE (announced by Keller in the last Update) also concerned some notion of the lore that was to be announced this year but with the postponement of the project (and the internal delays of Blizzard) it had to scale this plan for a more distant future.
