I did watch 15 hours of pre finals streams. I’m pretty sure I even get the tokens but not the skins.
Same here. I watched every playoff stream from beginning to end, and didn’t get the 15 hour skins. Really frustrating since I went out of my way to make sure I had 'em up.
Will the Overwatch World Cup group stage matches have drops? They start October 29th at 2 PM EST, and continue Monday, October 30 - Wednesday, November 1 at the same start time all three days.
Then a day off Thursday and then more matches Friday and Saturday 12:30 PM EST.
They will probably have drops, like a few World Cup team skins, just not OWL tokens.
which sucks cause im short “A” token from buying an OWL skin…a remnant from when they used to award 3 for watching…
Technically, the Pick’ems challenges and token matches would also award 3 tokens for completing or correctly predicting the winner, respectively. Unfortunately, the token matches never awarded their tokens.
My current token count ends in 11. I guessed 9 of the 11 token match winners correctly, which should give my account another 27 tokens. I’d still be in a weird token value, but I wanted to point out there have been some other ways to earn 3 tokens since the viewership change.
The 7 skins that weren’t available in bundles or as a viewership incentive will be available by watching these matches.
It looks like Illari missed the chance at being available for this year. Her OWWC skin was added with Season 7, but it’s also the only OWWC skin that cannot be purchased or earned in any way.
Good stuff - so the assumptions were correct.
Doomfist, Ana and Orisa skins, here I come!
Of course I’m going for everything as always, but I especially want those for characters I play/main.
A shame about Illari though - I hope they add her as some sort of incentive though since it would make no sense for her to have her skin ready to just be left out. That would be a great bonus. Maybe she’s an incentive for some sort of guessing who the winner will be.
It’s worth pointing out that the schedule is live, as well:
https://overwatchworldcup.com/en-us/?tab=schedule
It looks like there are 6 projected hours of matches per day, and they’re setting the rewards at watching 7 hours per day, so viewership windows are pretty dang tight.
There’s likely a Watchpoint-esque pre-game broadcast that may also have a stream countdown. We can hope for a start time closer to 10:15am PT along with a post-game Watchpoint after the last match, so we’re likely looking at about 7-8 hours of broadcast per day. We’ll need to be diligent in our Twitch claims.
Looks like we got some clarity on how Twitch drops have changed recently with this latest blog post: Earn Rockin’ New Drops Watching Overwatch 2 on Twitch:
So you no longer need to claim in order to start progress on the next reward, but you will need to claim within 24 hours of the promotion ending. Overall, this seems like a better method, so there’s less anxiety around claiming the moment an item is earned.
This makes more sense with how narrow the OWWC Twitch drop windows are. As long as you’re watching the full broadcast and hitting claim within a day, you’ll get the rewards.
I just happened to read this in the stickied post as well, much better this way.
So much better! I always just make it a point to come home for lunch and get the stream on and now I don’t have to keep checking my phone at work to claim stuff to avoid missing progress towards the next item.
**ALSO - is this Hammond spray new or old?
Both spray and skin are old. Spray is in the Halloween event category, skin is from when Hammond was introduced to the game.
Edit: It’s a great test run for how they want the OWWC drops to work. I’ve now passed the 50% mark toward the skin (6 hours) while still having not claimed the spray (2 hours).
A little annoyed I bought the orisa skin but if I think positively about it I contributed to the prize pool.
Any guesses what the Blizzcon mystery name card will be? I think it may be for that K-pop group
Yeah I’m thinking it will be a artwork of Dva, Kiriko, Brig & Tracer all posing in their K-Pop skins.
Other guesses are; a name card with just “BlizzCon” on it, a Murky/murloc themed namecard, or it could be themed after a future content update yet to be announced at BlizzCon.
Think the OP is MIA, right? Thread hasn’t been updated with region hours for the World Cup
Since the recent twitch rewards with the Hammond skin and spay just ended, I’m willing to bet any OW2 stream will qualify for the upcoming WC drops, not just the WC stream itself.
They did the same thing with the previous WC drops, a few months back. Otherwise, with the very limited number of available hours, you’re just gonna have a whole bunch of angry people (more so than usual) spamming support because they couldn’t get their drops.
Drops are live. Seems like it doesn’t even have to be OWWC streams and just general OW2 streams that will count. I’ve began getting progress towards the OWWC drops on Twitch on a random OW2 stream that has drops enabled.
This stream currently has drops
Tried one but it didn’t work then went to this one
I really like the artwork idea of them all posing in the new skins. Murloc name card would be cool as well. Blizzcon could be neat but if it is that I’d have to see the design with it. Thank you for some of these ideas
