Whenās the next Escort or Hybrid map?
My biggest concerns with perks are:
- too much complexity for new players, widening the gulfs even more
- uncertainty when looking at an enemy on which perks they picked
Iām tentatively excited though, because games should be fun before they should be balanced. Meleeās still alive after over 20 years because itās fun, not because itās balanced. The point of balance is to allow for more viable gameplay styles, which equals more fun.
anyone want to play marvel rivals
Theyāre cooked
I uninstalled Overwatch to make space for Marvel Rivals. Letās duo.
This kinda ruins the ethos of competitive Overwatch PvP by making it less like FPS team Super Smash Bros and trying to make it like League of Legends (which has too much going on for casual people to enjoy competitively and look how much more toxic that community is tbh). Learning curve is too high and momentum becomes even swingier. This progression system belongs in story modes, not the competitive FPS scene. Overwatch was great because limited economy in match (only ults), so every fight felt pretty fair. Now, itās gonna be āthis guy only beat me with this perk, not pure skill.ā Most of the player base still does not even grasp the basic mechanics of the game as is. Matchmaking was already pretty broken to begin with, these updates will make it even worse. This content would be great in PvE which you promised us and stole. Youāre giving us more tools to hate each other instead of good story to unite us lol.
Blizzard pulls out the ole Ctrl Z
you posted this again? anyway where are the groundbreaking things you promised? i just see paladins perks being copied, marvel rivals bans added because you are scared, more ow1 features being added making the 2 more pointless, a mode with only 14 characters, no pve, no story, nothing really
this game is just for gays and cat ladies
As a daily player since overwatch 1 beta⦠how do Iā¦. Not experience thisā¦?
These character customization changes sound interesting for anyone who wants them, but genuinely awful to me. I would not play this.
Please make sure thereās an option for people who are happy with the current state of the game to be able to keep playing its current modes unaffected by these experiments.
Iām not remotely interested in them, and not willing to stick around through another transition period of forced ācompromiseā, where my preferred way of playing the game is fully deleted from it (again).
Doesnāt matter how they get their updates at least theyāre doing something.
First time commenter here. In my opinion, itās not cool to spring such a massive change to the core gameplay on players with no lead up or prep or anything. As a player whoās been here since 2016, hearing that the game Iāve loved playing all this time will suddenly just become wayyy different a week from now when no one asked for it is really depressing. Iām not opposed to experimenting with perks or any other changes to core mechanics, but it should be tested in the community first.
The recent 6v6 tests were a good example of the OW team being transparent and willing to take community feedback before making permanent changes. So itās really jarring to see that weāre just going back to āthis is how weāre changing the game, take it or leave it.ā
At least give an option for those that prefer normal OW to continue playing that.

I am actually fairly optimistic about these changes. The perk changes actually seem pretty exciting and could very well help weaker/less meta heroes feel better and more viable. Sure a test phase to make sure strong heroes arenāt super overpowered would be nice, but honestly the change is a good one and Iām excited to try it. If they donāt add too many to the game then it shouldnāt be that hard for players to learn and grasp them. It is similar to Paladins but itās also similar to heroes of the storm which I played a lot and could be a refreshing change to OW2. Depending on the tank perks they get, it could help the gap from 6v6 to 5v5 by making certain tanks or tanks in general feel better.
Instead of freaking out over this why not just be willing to try it? Blizzard has done a lot in the past to break the trust, sure, but this is the most they have opted to do in a LONG time, and Iām here for it. If I get more agency of how I wanna play or if the heroes I like (who are generally deemed not meta/weak) get to feel more impactful and fun then I wanna try it.
So all the experimental quickplay tests, Moira card games, Sombraās quickplay hacked meant nothing to you?
No one in the community havent ever tried any of those right?
I donāt comment. I donāt complain. We were given no notice about fundamental gameplay changes.
Iāve been here since season 1 of OW 1.
I will stop playing when the new perk system drops. It isnāt the right fit for competitive matches.
Walk back the perk system roll out. What even is this???
IKR?
I like the introduced roadmap where you can see which mythics they are working on and what is next.
Perks look awesome.
Lootboxes would be great if all skins could be included (newest could appear in it a year later, for example), including legacy, locked, and removed ones, etc.
Pushing pronouns felt too much and out of context.
Reaper skins again with skulls are too monotonous and repetitive.
Mythic staff for Mercy, I imagined that would be something angelic with sun/cosmic rays, heavenly threads pulsing around.
Not touching the Defense Matrix and cheater problem is a big minus.
Not returning previous Battle passes and option to complete them after giving them free for China is a mistake.
Giving China 3-4k worth of cosmetics while not offering a single free skin is nothing but a hate crime.
Overall, 7/10.
