Overwatch 2 is a soulless shadow of the old game

Me and countless other people have tested this, you’re not invincible even if you don’t participate in chat.

Your chances of being banned are much lower, but not 0. Reports are not validated, not reviewed, there’s no integrity, that’s the problem. Everyone currently playing is vulnerable, and those that have invested lots of money are putting it at stake.

Chat stuff is purely volume based, as in matches reported in (amount of reports is pretty much irrelevant).

If someone gets reported in enough games over a period of time to get actioned. You’ve kind of got to wonder what they’ve been up to. Or they are crazy unlucky.

Whether that system is good or bad doesn’t matter, it is what they have. So what can you do to avoid actions… be normal, be civil, have fun.

It’s funny cause each time I boot up Marvel Rivals, I play a couple games then just shut it down and come back to Overwatch. The beta in particular was probably the most fun I’ve ever had in OW in all 8 years of it, but I’ll still take the current version over anything from OW1 (except maybe goats, I actually like it).

Course I like more straightfoward, regimented play which is why I hate the chaos of Marvel’s characters and open queue format. Meanwhile, almost every game of open queue comp I get in OW2 has 3 tanks and 2 supports, which I’ve grown to love. Down with DPS!

This is why MR & OW doing well is important.

People, if they are fans of this genre of games, will now have a choice. They can play the one they enjoy. Or a little of both. Or as Emongg just said to Flats “follow the hype”.

Once MR is in to proper seasons their seasons will be 90 days. OW will be 9 weeks (63 days) there will be moments where the “hype” is with one, and times when it is with the other.

Both doing well is good for gamers.

That’s for sure. I’ll still play both games, it’s just a matter of which one I play more. People out here pretending like you HAVE to pick one and that’s all you’re allowed to play.

Personally, I will be sticking to OW for the time being.

MR, great fun, well made game. But the sound design and voice action just annoys me. So I will only play it when friends demand. Which hasn’t happened yet, so I doubt it will.

If video games has taught me anything about soulless shadows, it’s that you can defeat them with a giant key and an entourage of Disney characters.

Exactly this. This is only one of the many things that has me feeling down too. Years ago in OW1 I’d be loading into the game the moment an event started so I could grind loot boxes to earn as many legendary skins as I could. I would wake up early just to play even if it meant I only got a few hours of sleep from staying up late and playing the night before. Nothing could compare to the main menu backgrounds and music back then either. I miss the videos that they would upload showcasing event skins every season too. I’ve also been waiting, hoping and praying for Archives to come back. Why won’t they bring it back for us to experience again and for new players to experience? Is there something that I’m missing? Did they speak out on it and say we won’t ever get to play it again? I have always and will always love the game. I don’t have any intentions on leaving it right now, but it feels more empty anymore.

The only thing to show for my years of commitment and passion is the border I have next to my career profile, but all of my stats aren’t correct. All of my hours on characters got messed up and my previous ranks from past seasons in OW1 are gone with no way for me to look back on. There are only stats for OW2 now and it feels pretty bad. Some people will argue that those things shouldn’t matter, but I’m someone who cares and wishes I could look back at everything from OW1 and see everything I’ve accomplished.

Yeah, this specifically is something they severely messed up. I would like to be able to see my improvements in one way or another. Idk if it’s because of server space or something, but it really is a waste that they just deleted all of that.

There have been more then enough cases where it was shown that players got banned for things that dont make sense or where not even told what they were banned for specifically , so yes, in some way they are right

Often, they don’t make sense from the email (because they are stupidly vague), and players often have very short term memory with games and their behaviour.

The likely hood is that singular event they remember contributed, but was only a tiny portion of the reports they’d of been getting, match after match. Because often, it is a pattern, not a one off.

I’m not, but I don’t rage on voice.

This.

If you just be normal, you have nothing to worry about.

Also, no ones getting actioned for losing their rag with someone on rare occasions (it is only natural to get frustrated from time to time). If you do it often, you are asking for trouble.

So someone can drop a racial slur once in a while and get away with it just because it’s not every game. Dumb system, please stop defending it. Quantitative report systems are worthless and exploitable to hell.

Also the most common infraction is text chat, not voice, you don’t need to rage in voice to get muted. In fact using voice chat is probably less likely to get your account actioned.

If people don’t report them… Yes. Sadly.

The amount of reports needed… “exploitable” is highly unlikely.

Should it have some form of function that picks up certain words and phrases and acts immediately… Yes. Maybe one day.

Because they have a log of text chat. If you report someone, it scans the lot and looks to see if something is there.

Voice it only records a snippet when reported. So if you report someone after the game, it is unlikely anything will happen as there will be no record of the offensive moment.

So it is highly logical that text chat is more frequently action, as the evidence will be there.

Not sure anyones defending it. It is what it is.

If you just behave like a normal, level headed, human being and show base levels of respect to your team mates… You never have an issues.

I got chat banned once for 2 weeks and in the mail I asked them what i was banned for and some words I understand like “reaper is sh*t” (I didnt use the * ingame lol) but some other things MADE NO SENSE AT ALL and when I asked them how those things are bannable since they are not toxic at all they just told me that this ban wont be revoked and any further questions wont be answered like how am I supposed to know what i did wrong???

What do you think the Overwatch team can learn from Rivals?

They piss in your face, they just mark the ticket solved and add it to their stats to scrape up their next pay check like a bunch of wet dogs.
