Overwatch 2 in 2022?

What makes you believe that when Jeff said yesterday that Overwatch 2 was STILL a “ways off”

?

I honestly think we will get it late 2022 or early 2023

That.

Everyone, even the most royal players would start to feel a sensation of “boredom” and an itch to “move on” and “play something else”.

We’ve already lost many players this year, if we go another year without anything, I am afraid it’ll be very impactful for Overwatch

This is such an over exaggeration.

I mean, I don’t think I am wrong, am I?

I’m willing to listen to your thoughts and reasoning.

They did it but for FFA. :frowning:

We are still getting content, we’ve gotten Echo and Kenezaka this year (or arguably next year, for anything that isn’t PC).

We’ve gotten 3 mini events (two of them paired with lore content). We are still getting events with pretty neat content for it.

OWL operates by itself so the content will continue to be regular.

Also, the downtime that we will have between now and OW2 being put on shelves imo will be really healthy. Having a hero release every 3 or so months would be really unhealthy for the game and it’s balance.

This time that they have means that they can focus on not only getting everything with OW2 perfected, but also to get the game balance onto a level where the transition from the first to second will be as smooth as possible.

If people aren’t willing to wait it out then that’s on them in the long run. No one is forcing them to patiently wait for the game and if they need a break, then they can take one. But making these threats of leaving or whatever is beyond childish.

And DM.

Both of which were long overdue for a map.

EDIT: I’m also assuming this map will feature in 1v1 duels, and things like CTF.

Yeah, it didn’t sound promising enough at all.

4 years and still long way to go? How many more they need? 8? Sounds like Titan 2 cancelation.

Pretty reasonable.

I agree.

You realise most games are in development for 4-7 years?

Why would there have to be a beta in the first place???

Tell me about it. Activision shots out new CoD every year.

They can be more, they can be less. There is no “Gold standard” for game development. A lot of it has to do with how high they set the bar, money, staff size etc.

In Ow 2 case however it really looks like little more than an expansion level DLC… those are usually done in a year or less.

Edit: but even if it takes a long time, there is no reason to announce the game and hype it up 3-4+ years before release.

I am sure they need some sort of beta test to test out the 6+ new heroes and 10+ new maps as well as some of the PvE content such as hero talents and the progression system.

You don’t want a bugged game at launch, right?

looking at you, Cyberpunk 2077

Thanks, everyone is being pretty dramatic about it imo.

It’s okay to be excited but seeing all these threats, and everyone having such a doom and gloom attitude… is a bit silly lol.

I’ve already prepared myself for the fact that we may have to wait two or three more years (from blizzcon last year) because it’s the regular span for development. 4 is being overly ambitious for a story driven game too imo.

Above all though, I’m willing to wait it out because I don’t want the next CP2077 OW edition.

You feel me?

Beta test used to mean something, these days I don’t think it does any real good. Most games release the beta test as some kind of exclusive perk for pre orders or the like. The Beta comes out maybe 3 weeks before launch, long after the games already printed the physical copies.

They rarely have the time to make any significant changes if there are problems. Thus I feel the “beta” period is mostly a joke these days.
