Orisa's Energy Javelin speed should be slowed down a bit

This post is not mainly about Moira’s survivability.

It’s about making Orisa’s Javelin more avoidable and visible - like other tank heroes abilities, such as Doomfist’s punch or Rein’s Firestrike and Hammer. It’s virtually instantaneous (to my eye at least) and way too fast - not easy to see her executing it and costs nothing for her to do (i.e., Over Powered).

It feels like you’re just instantly stabbed with a spear and there’s nothing you can do about it until it’s too late. I’m not going to run and hide as a Support every time there is an Orisa around. (This reminds me of what it was like before the Doomfist re-work.)

Orisa’s instant stun is not fun. This problem is has been raised by other other (non-Moira) players and streamers (SVB and Arx) as well.

I mean, Firestrike doesn’t cost him anything, either…so, I guess we’re good! Mission accomplished, that’s a wrap, we can all head to happy hour early!

The complaint here is Spear doesn’t have a cost AND/OR it’s not visible enough to detect. With regard to Rein, Firestrike is easily detectable. Orisa’s spear is not detectable. The condition of an undetectable instant and distant (therefore OP) ability still applies.

Case in point: Doom punch or Brig Bash before reworks. THAT’S what Orisa’s spear reminds me of and it is NOT fun and gives me PTSD.

I’m really wondering what you are doing that you are consistently getting hit with the spear halfway across the map, as you say. This ability is not OP nor is it instant or undetectable (hard to notice, maybe, but far from undetectable.). Still a git gud issue

You could compare it to Roadhog’s hook, yes the projectile is faster and longer range, but it’s also much less devastating to be hit by it. Many projectiles in the game are not really avoidable using reaction time, rather you juke them with unpredictable movement. You don’t react to a Hanzo arrow, you just try to make yourself harder to hit.

Speed of Javelin (and animation) is too fast.

It’s too easy to stun anyone.

It’s faster than a Hanzo arrow, more like bullet.

The move is quite fine. Definitely not as bad as Hook or Doom punch. It might be on par with old brig bash, but that wasn’t an issue, either. The OP has major “An Orisa got lucky with this move as I ran through the choke and now the character needs to suffer cause I’m mad” energy.

I will say, that I think the main reason her Javelin is so strong is because the rest of her tanking kit can’t satisfy a less-aggressive edge.

They tried a lot of iterations where Orisa had less damage, longer cooldowns, weaker jav, and they’re STILL buffing Orisa. If her offense actually is too potent and annoying to deal with, yet she’s still losing more games than the devs intended, I’d suggest a shift.

  • Remove her Javelin pin function (the stun + knockback is all she really needs to function)
  • Lower her Javelin damage
  • Increase her Spin radius for more team defenses.
