Just think about it. Why woudl any tank or a healer queue for open instead of role q (especially when you can learn boxes from that one) and the dps have less interest in role q because of wait times.

Because you are assuming that the sole reason people go to open queue is for queue times. Which is not the case.

Many of us love Open Queue because we like playing ALL the roles in a match. We look for opportunities to swap from one role to another if it fits better.

I also like to have freedom to play more than 1 class but the match quality in open q is just horrible to even bother. everyone thinks they are top 500 genji, tracer or a widow.

the amount of throwers, arguments, people who leave the game and blatantly sabotage their own teams is INSANE. any time I get matched with diamond icons and not masters and GMs (because queue times) most my team WITHOUT FAIL is not trying and is actively throwing the game. most times we get a leaver. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to climb in this mode without grouping. if you’re ever going to try to climb in soloq in this abomination of a gamemode where nobody cares good luck

I’ve been putting up my placements on here for past 3 seasons (with replays so I’m not accused of bs’ing)…each time it’s been overwhelmingly 222 or 132…perfectly fine matches…the 5 dps thing and the not caring thing are gross exaggerations of what happens on there

I’ve labeled the dps-only fearmongering on here overwatch’s “boogie man” for several years now…because it fits…plenty of people tank and support there

Thing is you get ONE match with 4 or 4+ dps and you immediately make the leap to “EVERY GAME IS NOTHING BUT DPS!!!” (and my guess is you’re probably one of the dps)

Once again, queue times are not the primary reason people choose OQ.

After all, if it just about quick games they would just be playing quickplay RQ because those times are still pretty fast.

Even for those who DO choose it solely on that reason they should not and are not the problem for the majority of games. Because as I said before…

Meaning that those who struggle to work with their team are usually pretty inflexable themselves.

The ones who are looking to skip queues will typically just play RQ quickplay.

Because quite honestly since only roughly 3% of the NA player base plays OQ the queues are actually on par with that of RQ competitive.

Coirrect. The majority of people who raged at others for choosing dps were ALSO people who wanted to just play DPS. They tend to be just as stubborn and expect everyone else to pick around them.

Creating an environment of “dps chicken”. They bring their own problems with them and sadly do not realize that they are the only consistent element.

I like RQ
I like OQ
I am high plat/diamond in both, more often over 3k, peaking 3.2k.
I take them both as seriously as I can without melting my brain
I have the same experience across the board which is like 1/10 games there is a leaver, 3/10 there might be a real “smurf” and not an alt account

People are generally the same socially in OQ as they are in RQ.

I think there are a lot more people who take RQ and OQ as seriously as the other than people think and I believe a lot of this “people are different in xyz” is just conjecture.

Its a childish arcade mode and quite honestly, that’s about it. it’s there to satisfy folks who can’t wait in line with everyone else to play the real game now.

What I find funny is when you even bring up the question of character picks you are yelled down and told to go to RQ

Less que times and a diverse experience, not every game is a 5 man dps its just people overexaggerating because they lost because people didnt want to flex, get over yourself its not that bad.

There are certain ranks that are really toxic. High Plat/Diamond I think is the worst. It’s full of wannabees and hardstucks and smurfs.
