I had 21 loot boxes from last year’s Winter event and when I went to open them, there was only duplicates in the first 3 boxes even though I have not gotten any rare or common items from this year’s event.
Did the developers change the algorithm so that players can only get this year’s winter items from boxes they earned this year?
Thats always how it’s been. The contents of the lootboxes are determined when you earn them, not when you open them. You can’t get skins that don’t exist at the time of you earning the lootbox.
I was under the impression that loot box contents are generated when the box is earned. Which means you couldn’t get an item that wasn’t yet in the loot pool at the time.
Could be wrong, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it confirmed anywhere.
