The only monetization is for cosmetics and the eventual PvE though? Literally nothing about the usual Overwatch gameplay is being affected by monetization, so this seems like pointless whining.
And those things still matter to people, big shocker. Itâs not whining. Itâs actually offensive. I only enjoy getting skins, that is my reason to play. This game isnât good enough on its own otherwise. I also like the characters a lot and wanted the PvE to be you know a full game and not cut up and spread out just for them to make money. God dismissive people here are unbelievable. Just cause you donât care doesnât mean it does not matter to some people.
In fact, Iâd argue it matters to the majority, you know all the people who quit to spend money on all the other F2P scam games that theyâre invested in now since OW was abandoned for 3 years just to change the monetization to be unfriendly.
Free-to-access does not 100% equal free to play.
I mean as long as there isnt any pay to win then yes, its free to play sorry friend.
Free to play models are the standard now in PC gaming so unfortunately you are either going to have to adapt or go do something else if its truly that offensive to you.

But itâs literally free to play. You can play the new, updated version of the game youâve been playing for 6 years for free. Itâs a whole PvP game thatâs completely free to play, no financial restrictions on gameplay or progression. What part of that donât you understand? The PvE is literally an extra that wasnât there before. So itâs going to cost extra. Iâve seen more than enough actual âF2Pâ scams in games, but this isnât one of them. You expected them to add a whole PvE game to this and not charge for it? Are you that entitled? Or are you being deliberately obtuse so you can keep feeling like the victim?
Dismissive and reductive. F2P games are scams and have no creativity or innovation about them. Blizzard could be better and not follow the standards or they can continue to con you and a bunch of other people out of your money. I should always be able to get skins I want in any game I paid for whether it goes F2P or not is irrelevant.

It already is a full game. What the h*** do you think Overwatch 2 is? Itâs a new version of a whole game. Iâm not gonna waste my time being mad at this when there are actual scams I can call out. Thereâs a difference. But youâre too busy being immediately emotional about everything here to take a second to think critically and actually see the difference. This is your problem. Nobody ever told you WHAT to feel. We simply gave counterarguments and I wanted you to think logically for a second. But thereâs none of that with you. No reason, no logic, just pure, childish emotion. How is conforming to a standard, like it or not, where the consumer has shown clear preference for a zero-barrier-to-entry model with back-end monetization a âscamâ?
No, you are just finally be asked to pay again for them if you want the better ones. You got a lot more than frankly your money warranted to start, a free upgrade of the game with all those cosmetics grandfathered in by the way, and continuing new free cosmetics with a free pass. Blizz is under_zero_ obligation to continue giving you things you donât pay for. You got your moneyâs worth for six years for $40, and probably lets be honest, paid more over time in loot boxes, I seriously doubt you only just bought the game and never paid a dime more.
Now, if you want to, and you see the higher tier cosmetics as worth it you can buy a pass to get them, not interested, pass on the pass (pun intended). Itâs actually a very reasonable and fair model to work from as you only really pay for content you want. I think the issue underlying here is you are a collector likely, and know you canât afford it all. I hate to say this, but you and I are simply not owed anything for a ridiculously low cost for endless content.
Losing your mind and screaming âscam scamâ because of an optional purchase of cosmetics says to me the actual game means little to you, itâs about collecting.

They will be worth as much as grinding for border levels in OW1, which isnât much since no one plays the game for just the lootboxes.
Iâm most looking forward to the new support hero that seems to possibly have high mobility because speed is fun.
