Is it really that bad? Maybe it will help GM’s with their 20 min q’s atleast.
It’s horrible, I’m happy I’m not that high haha!
But yeah general idea is 55%+ winrate is ideal for GM
It’s why when a hero has a below 50% winrate in GM you know they got it bad.
I mean… that goes for any rank. Anything below 50% means you’re losing rank, anything above 50% means you’re progressing. Welcome to math.
I win 50 SR in games where I play Zarya.
I can only imagine how much SR someone better than me would win. Mechanical proficiency will boost you faster than anything else.
SR gain below diamond is based on your performance during a game so if you stomp people you can easily gain 80-100sr per game, past diamond it’s usually 23-27 sr per game.
No, you’re simplifying. When you’re in/approaching GM a 51% win rate isn’t good enough to climb anymore. You lose more SR than you gain. This means that in order to consistently climb in GM you need to maintain a win rate ABOVE 55%, anything less and you’ll either maintain or start dropping SR.
This is where the deception of hero win rates come in at GM. People can look at a hero in GM with 51% win rate and think it’s balanced, but in reality the hero is underperforming. Which means that if a hero has a sub 50% win rate in GM that means things are really bad for that hero. A balanced hero would be able to maintain that 55% requirement to climb.
So, when we’re talking about GM, no, you cannot climb with a 51% win rate.
Edit: As to your OP, 20 SR for a win ain’t bad, tbh. Unless you’re seriously under ranked, then that’s a decent climb rate. If you want to climb ranks in comp you have to play a TON of games. Just doing your placements + 20 games isn’t good enough. In my experience there are two reasons why people don’t climb. Either they’re at the rank they deserve, or they don’t play enough comp.
What determines different gains/losses in diamond+ if it’s not performance?
Not really.
If I played in bronze and somehow lost 40% of games, thanks to PBSR I’d only lose 10sr, but gain 40
My friend did some uh, “bad behavior” in bronze and gained 80sr a win.
RNG?
Its supposedly based upon the SR difference of teams, if your teams difference is lower and wins you gain a bit more.
It also heavily favors MMR, whenever I decayed to 3000 I’d gain anything from 40-80sr.
Its usually in 23-26sr range from what I’ve seen though, its consistent.
I still manage to gain more than losing too.
