Okay, who's sick of the "On Fire" voice lines on repeat?

The title speaks for itself. Look. People loved having the On Fire system return all the way back in Season 5. Before Season 5 came out, the lines they said when they were On Fire (more to indicate good performance) were much more “Saying in unison every time” scenarios. But now, the voice lines are like, popping up all the time. You’re gonna hear it, like, at least 20 times in a game, I don’t know. And it gets in the way of all the great voice lines people struggle to find all thanks to the On Fires popping up so frequently. It’s, like, sometimes even annoying that I just press a communication, any communication, to stop our hero in their tracks in their grand statements. Like, lately, I hear an On Fire voiceline, I press the “No” communication. That stops the voice line in its tracks.

The On Fire voicelines really need to be toned down, because it goes off-character due to the frequency. Think about it: Widowmaker, for example, is very emotionless and stone-cold in terms of personality due to her conditions and manipulated genes. She’s got a slowed heartrate. So how come does she rave about the wonders of “feeling alive” every few minutes? This is out of character. Do you see now? It isn’t compatible, hearing voice lines like these so many times in a match. So what about this? I have a few options. Please see this, Team 4.

  • OPTION 1: Allow other voice line categories to take priority over On Fire. This means that if the hero was going to say an elimination voice line when they go On Fire, in this case, instead, they say the queued elimination voice line instead of the On Fire one. This means we can much more easily enjoy their remarks there instead of dealing with almost immature shout outs on the intercom saying that you are metaphorically on fire. So, that means, let’s say you’re playing as Reinhardt. If he eliminates Sojourn using Overclock, he says, “Uh-oh! That’s going to get me a citation…”. However, it’s so easy for the On Fire system to interfere and cancel the rare elimination line with another “Can you feel the heat?!” or “You can’t stop me! I’m on fire!”… AGAIN. If we let elimination lines take priority, then, the rare elimination line will instead play. But if no voice clip is queued up, instead, the On Fire line will trigger.
  • OPTION 2: Make the On Fire voice lines trigger instead if you achieve the Blazing status. This way, the voice clips are much more relevant to a sense of achievement. It makes so much more sense to work harder to attain these lines so you’re much more likely to enjoy them.

Who else here is so tired of On Fire voicelines right now, just like I am? Can we get the Overwatch team to see this? All this really is about is that this is just a quality of life change. I’m all about the small things that we don’t tend to easily notice.
