Not really and we know not really. We know from the start of the season her and Winston were 1a and 1b. Winston received a minor nerf, and Juno got a buff that made her meta (this is key), and DVA just became number 1. They removed the Juno interaction and she took a bigger hit from the armor nerf than anyone outside of Ram (who isnt meta). Then they also reduced her armor by a significant amount making it hit harder.
I think a lot of people drastically underestimate how important her Juno interaction was to keeping her in the meta. That nerf alone probably puts Winston above her but with it and the armor nerfs, if Dive continues to be meta, then I would expect Winston to be the tank of choice for that meta.
He is, but it’s masked by there being a large number of metal Winstons who leap into the enemy team with 17 HP and no bubble.
I think what it comes down to is that the likes of Winston and Rein are the “acceptable” tanks and are allowed to be better than the rest. D.Va, not so much.
They keep doing random changes to him. Remember that Flux buff that came out of nowhere before getting rightfully reverted? Bizarre.
The only thing I can put it down to is that the season nine and beyond changes screwed up Sigma at most ranks. Sigma was certainly doing fine for himself below M+ before the big shake-up:
So perhaps it’s another case of collateral damage from big, sweeping balance changes.
The buff won’t matter much - the recharge on his breather just decides how long he has to hide after using it, not any kind of oppressive boost to how long it actually lasts.
He is trash because of the armour changes, and the latest patch does nothing much for that since his pellets will still do the same damage and his 4 shrapnel will do 0.5 extra damage each (total of 2 damage per shot) against armour.
Gave him his oneshot back without giving everyone their HP that was lost for his matchup back their HP, at that. Hilarious, really when it was Josh Noh himself that said messing with HP pools a lot was bad for the game as it messes with breakpoints that always ruins game feel. (He did say this pre-S9 too…)
It is. The direction is random power creep with a semblance of ‘we don’t understand how any change interacts with the game at large so you players have to suffer lol’ essentially.
