Ok, smurfs is actually a problem

I made an alt to check if people were telling the truth about the amount of smurfs in the lower ranks atm.

They were telling the truth.

I’m not kidding now but there are probably more GMs playing in Diamond on alts than on their actual main in GM.
My main is GM so trust me, I can clearly see if they are GM players or not.

There are a huge amount of Widow, Tracer and Genji GM smurfs in Plat-Diamond. Like, an INSANE amount.

No wonder people are quitting. There was a GM smurf duo camping enemy spawn as Widow and Tracer the whole round by themselves on Lijiang Tower.

Blizzard gotta do something asap. This was waaaaay worse than I possibly thought it would be lmao.

I am not a fan of smurfs and this isn’t exactly on topic but any time I see someone lamenting over the smurf situation on these forums I read their posts in the voice of Gargamel, the villain from The Smurfs.

We need Blizzard to create a Gargamel for Overwatch to deal with all the smurfs.

Gm is something like 0.1% of the playerbase? You sure they are not just playing well. Rank kind of reflects how much time has been spent grinding comp, so you can have people play gm level but who don’t have time to grind the system.

Well it could be high Masters too. They don’t belong in Plat-Diamond in any case.

I am surprised that this complaint even comes out that much while all the other FPS (CoD, Battlefield, Quake, you name it…) don’t have skill based match maker…

Don’t get me wrong, I love the match maker, particularly as I am old and slow and rather face unchallenging opponent like myself…

At any rate, if anything, it is a proof, if needed be, that this whole skill based match maker thing is a brilliant forward thinking idea.

Kudos to Overwatch team! :smiley:

And, btw, can you improve your match maker yet even more?! :stuck_out_tongue:

Now I tried on the European servers. It’s the same thing there.

3+ smurfs in 9/10 games.

I tried it out, myself, this free weekend, while at school between a 3 hour break in classes. It was horrible. I felt super guilty after seeing at least 2-3 other smurfs in each of my deathmatches. Please don’t judge, though. Had to use a free account because the authenticator for my one and only account was at home.

Quake Champions has mmr on quick skirmishes. Quake Live has elo based systems.

From Blizzard’s standpoint though, they are the opposite of a problem. With Smurfing they can sell 10 million copies of the game despite having a player base of only 5 million (completely made up those numbers). And that lies the true problem and why Blizzard is reluctant to do anything about it.

I think Blizz already has Gargamel in place to deal with smurfs. Unfortunately Gargamel was highly unsuccessful and actually managed to create a smurf.

That’s why I dont care about ranks and winning anymore. I just play the game for fun,but I gotta play it in competitive because QP is a dps only brawl fest.

…maybe, just MAAAYYYBEEE his plan all along was to make the smurf and do just that, what he’s complaining about now…to “rekt” all the lowbies and laugh to himself, yet he was beaten’ at his own game !!!

QC sucks… Play QL if you can. It feels so much smoother, and the netcode is so much better.
