A good AI can make beautiful balance and fast. But it might give everyone 0 HP because then all heroes have exactly 50% winrate.

Not quite how it works, its safe to assume they see the feedback, Which feedback could be part of the problem, (listen to reddit, twitter, streamers. ignore rest)
There is there own internal data we don’t see which conflicts. so we are all screaming blue and black, but their data says white and gold…
There are also intended design directions, we don’t know, so if our wants travel against that, again we lose.
Then there is development stubbornness. as they are human with any creative project you work on and passionate about there some things that you might get attached to and or feel your way is the best and stubbornly hold onto that.
finally pride. its a thing to not cave in when you are wrong and the players are right
and try and implement things if possible so it does not look that way.

I agree the patch looked good on paper but has changed nothing in gameplay, I am a support main and it felt no different. and you can tell there are no supports blowing up the forums with whinge. I have stated a few times where the issue lies and what direction. the change to discord orb should have been a blanket adjustment for all status effects for tanks, not just one.
doing 1 does nothing as other effects are piled on so Orb, nade, hack, virus, tank gets deleted.
Mei oh the snare is less but its the frost damage is stupid high onto of it. but because some streamers the devs actively watch, praised this patch changes they will think its job well done.

While i agree with the idea of your post, us players are no better.

You can replace Dev with Players and the statement would still be true.

Players are good at pointing out problems and pain points. I’d say very good at it. Not so much with solutions though.

The problem is that Blizzard’s solutions largely aren’t very good either and often don’t address these problems and pain points unless there’s very little work involved.

I’m not a fan of every change they make. Sometimes they make absolutely daft changes to the game.

However, is it possible that maybe… just maybe… what players want doesn’t match up with what the game needs?

I see a lot of really bad takes on this forum alone, the game would be a tire fire if the devs implemented them all.

My biggest criticism of their changes and patches since OW2 launch has been their complete abandonment of the experimental cards and test servers. They were there for a reason. It enabled them to gather a lot of data on proposed changes in a short span of time. I don’t understand why they don’t use them anymore.

Not saying your wrong or right win rate isn’t everything.
But I pick Cassidy when I want to kill fliers and I am not good at hitscan and I will prob still lose and there are many like me.

They listen to the popular streamers first and the community second, that’s why. They don’t care about these forums or stuff like Reddit. If Flats/Emmong/etc. complain or want a change, they get it. And I hate that they balance this game around them and not making it fun for everyone.

But even at GM he was around 46-47%, when he was played at the peak of the skill ceiling

There was no argument to be made about nerfing him in the first place and this went on for months

A healthy dose of distrust is needed in this community

I think they mostly listen to there data and I believe the strength of free value hero’s and hard counters at the moment is an effort to onboard new players and boost player retention.

witch is a good thing, if they listened to this form often, every hero would be gutted, nerfed, buffed, removed, and reworked all at the same time.

The community isnt some harmoniously entity, we are way to diverse and often have terrible takes

about 90% of the community has been asking for nerfs to nade’s anti but they at most change the duration or cooldown by a second or two. Nerf the dang percentage to 50 already!!! ugh this game will never be balanced if they keep refusing to even try ridiculously highly requested changes like this.

I think a good fix would be to make it so it only anti-heals up to a specific amount of HP before it goes away. So like, it blocks heals up to 200-300 HP then goes away. But with how supports are now, that amount would be extremely easy to heal past and it’d make anti-heal very irrelevant. Queen’s ult would basically be useless at that point.

Players is a massively diverse group of people though with wildly different opinions on balance. The problem is the ow balance teams philosophy on balance is “do the opposite of what the majority ask for in the community” or “take community suggestions as an absolute last resort”.

A good balance team understands the value of player feedback, especially from the people who play in the highest ranks, and they integrate that player feedback into their balance decisions. I’m not saying they should let the players balance the game, but they should be taking their feedback seriously.

Some of the best games ever made have worked very closely with their player base.

I think queen’s ult being 100% is fine as its an ult with a crazy long cast animation. I just want nade nerfed. I also thought of that “only blocks up to X healing” idea for nade, which I don’t hate, but id still rather if block only 50% personally
