Not joining voice chat is lame

Use the com wheel. People have chat off for a reason, you wont change that here.

I will never join voice, no matter what kind of hissy fits this community throws. The reason is rather simple: Overwatch has excellent sound cues. It is much more important to be able to listen to that, than some childish bickering over hero picks. By the time anyone says Reaper behind, you are already dead. Voice chat just makes you lazy. You stop paying attention to the actual game at hand.

Also, Overwatch is no rocket science. You should know when to push, when to retreat, when to ult. You do not need a babysitter for that.

Lost a game on Hanamura today.

“Rein don’t go top right, they have junk and sym, you’ll die”

“Rein, they are teleporting right side, don’t just stand there at main”

Needless to say we lost. And people still try to argue that not being in voice chat is not throwing. It is and there is no other way around it. OW is an objective based team game with strategy. What strategy can you come up with to take an objective with a team that doesn’t coordinate.

No it isn’t. Playing without call outs is stupid. Playing a hero you want is one thing, not being able to hear that Reaper is about to pop a cap in your behind because you think my voice isn’t worthy to grace your ears is stupid and one step away from throwing.

Having to mute everyone cos of how worthless the sounds they make are gets pretty tedious pretty quickly… :man_shrugging:t2:

This rein just sucks. He has a situational awareness of a wooden table. It has nothing to do with Voice Chat. That’s the point. You will never get better at being aware of whats happening if you rely on voice chat.
Also your case is an exception. High level voice is as follows: WINSTONWINSTONWINSTONWINSTONWINSTONDVADVDADVADVADVADVADVADVADVASOLDIERSOLDIERSOLDIERSOLDIERSOLDIERSOLDIERSOLDIER

That’s not communication, that’s just annoying spam. People really should know their priorities.

Lower level VC is just either complete silence or QQ the whole match.

This entire post just shows a complete and utter lack of understanding and empathy towards people who don’t join voicechat.

You are under the illusion it is a conscious refusal because they don’t personally like you or something.
Plenty of people do not join voice for reasons out of neccessity, usually mental health related (anxiety, easily triggered by authorative and angry voices, or unable to deal with the additional sensory input)
but it can also be a physical reason such as deafness. Or maybe a more practical reason of not having a headset and playing late at night and the volume is so low they don’t want mouthbreathers making it harder to hear the game.

So again: stop forcing your own personal viewpoints down other people’s throats. It’s like a dang religion. “Only salvation through voice chat. Join us or go to hell”.

Being the support calling out the flanker while your teammate mashes INEEDHEALING and then berates you for “being bad” is up there too

I always join VC and can’t remember the last time I encountered the behavior or toxicity people here claims happens every day. I truly believe that while it’s not impossible, it is exaggerated.

Tilting your team in VC is also throwing. And more than a few players aren’t so utilitarian with their callouts its a lot of cussing, racism, and vile words mixed in with callouts.

It’s like they want to lose by making sure people play worse.

Probably better to play it safe and just stay out of there, callouts and VC would be great if people could ya know stop being terrible

welp, there we go. Blizzard doesn’t policy their game and people just constantly say racist, sexist stuff and also very vile. A shame that this game doesn’t have an automated ban for massive reports on a person for saying all that.

Idk, you guys make it sound like the moment you join voicechat the sky falls. And that’s such a farfetched take and not the ordinary. You know what’s ordinary? people not being in vc and making random excuses for it for the most part.

Nah. In my region if i join voice is only to hear people crying about DPS being bad so i don’t even join voice and only do my stuff.

People can have legit reasons for it. Anxiety, its more of a distraction, or just outright do not want too. If you want it to be part of every comp game you play, consider LFG. Havent had a team there that didnt all use voice or at least listened.

I’m calling you out JASONBENT, i’ll see you in the HELL IN THE CELL THIS SATURDAY NIGHT.

Dude, just let them spread their make-believe superstitions. They won’t budge. It’s probably better that they’re not in vc, given that they seem to only be aware of the negatives.

When you can only see the negative, it probably means that you’re in that mindset too, so it’s better that they quarantine themselves.

The irony here is that he associates voicechat turn-off to winrate, when it may very well be that everyone but him/her was in vc and he got carried with their teamwork.

And then you gotta love that widowmaker player that stays completely away from the team, misses shots and quits vc because the teammates are giving info. Those are the best: “CaNt CoNcEnTrAtE, tOo MuCh NoIsE”

The reason i’m not joining voice at all is because i get stressed over ppl yelling over each other and i can’t concentrate on what i’m doing.

I hate how ignorant ppl can be like you thinking it’s lame or whatever, like do ppl like you live under a rock or something and doesn’t know about social anxiety or other stuff like this?

I’m so sick and tired that i have to get sht on by ppl in overwatch when i need to explain myself, calling me an attention whre and a liar etc.

Can’t ppl like you leave us ppl alone for once and accept that some of us doesn’t want to be in voice chat? Not only because of social stuff but also from ppl being sexist and just plain mean?

Overwatch is just a game and doesn’t have to be taken serious, i’ve even had successful games and been winning games in a row without voice chat. The game is only supposed to give you something fun and not having demands on you. There isn’t a rule in ow that says you’re forced to join voice at all.

I’ve had my sh*t with voice chat and i’m so sick and tired of it so i’m never gonna join EVER! So don’t come here and call me lame just because i don’t want to be called toxic names and other bs. Because i’ve had enough of that!

or i could just not join it, and never have to worry about muting someone

Toxic people are lame.

I am glad that all toxic VC is gone thank to the 100 % accurate bna system there is 0 people saying vile things in voice chat everyone is super nice and no one is shouting or berating one another ever its great!

I am glad your experience in OW is free of anyone every being horrible in VC sounds like a fun time. But you know because we have different experiences its whatever. I am sure all the times I’ve been called racial slurs actually didn’t happen and I was just imagining it your right its better I just accept it and let it happen.
