No OW2 news today

I understand the pandemic and other issues have caused delay with most things- including OW2. However, the lack of transparency and the edging of player hopes is just too much at this point. Blizzard is incapable of reading the room at this point.

I havenā€™t been keeping up with OWL news but Iā€™ve heard they just keep referring to it as 5v5?

around october of last year, ā€œOWL in aprilā€ was to be played on an early build of OW2. tuesdayā€™s announcement mentioned that in may, the league will be played in a ā€œ5v5 formatā€. it could be nothing, but considering that OWL is basically promotion for the game itself, itā€™s awfully strange that OW2 wasnā€™t mentioned by name once. unless, of course, development isnā€™t where it was planned to have been months ago.

Imagine if OWL will play on that really janky pro workshop code where half the changes donā€™t work properly :sob:

The most concerning part for me is how OWL starts in less than 3 months and the pros are still having to create their own budget version of OW2 to practice on. What the hell is going on at Blizzard?!

I assume its a concerted effort to let team 4 talk OW2 while they focus exclusively on OWL news. It is a tad silly to avoid even saying the name OW2 but I suspect that by avoiding saying the name they are trying to let Team 4 manage everything about OW2 news.

i definitely thought that too. obviously, if anything more were said about OW2 with the state of the community right now, it would for sure detract attention from OWL. hopefully thatā€™s the case.

While 3rd week of February was never said, Mike Ybarra did say in the coming week we will get something, and its been a few weeks already since that tweet
