Just rework the format to be 1-3-1 and move some of the tanks and supports to the dps role (with the necessary reworks).
Let the damage role be the one that contains hybrid heroes like JQueen, Hog, Zenyatta and Illari.
And let both the tank and support roles become niche roles with specialist kits centered around:
- Tank: Damage mitigation, CC, zoning, initiation
- Support: Healing, buffs/debuffs, utility
Either that or bring back 2-2-2.
The current 1-2-2 is an abomination.
Or, here me out, turn the game into Apex Legends or even COD
Imagine if everything was the same. No issues at all

You seem to have reading/comprehension problems
three dps and 1 support would vaporize the tank - yeah thatās a good idea

We canāt have 1:3:1 in OW, that assumes dps would actually peel to protect the support. The average DPS player doesnāt have enough awareness to even know someone needs to peel.
2:2:1 would work, though.

Interesting idea. Heroes in general are already blended to do mostily the same things. Tanks are fat DPS-es, while most supports are DPS-es that can heal.
If supports are halved, then the healing numbers need to be buffed for the least healing supports and the dps passive needs to go.
Ana might get 80 healing per dart, mercy would get healing per second up to 60 or 65 to be able to keep the team alive. are you ready for that? For supports to get absolutely broken and powered up to make up for lacking another support?
With 2 supports the numbers can be more toned down and manageable.

I feel like weāre ignoring the ultimate solution here.

What if support doesnāt need protection?
We can think outside the box.
Supports and tanks become enablers who are not worth focusing and/or cost a lot resources if they are the first target.
Currently support are the most valuable target because they are the ones that keep everyone alive while generally being the weakest at 1v1.
Things should be reworked to make people rely less on their healers to be able to even play the game.
Support healing should become a welcome addition instead of a necessity.
Blizzard already did changes in this direction, but not nearly drastic enough.
I believe going this route can make things much clearer, both for beginners and veterans.
But Iām also ok with reverting to 2-2-2 and doing the needed changes to avoid the OW1 problems.
This is the plan for Overwatch 3.
If thereās only a single support, they will be the priority target, regardless. They will need protection, even if heroes are redesigned to rely on them less
How to kill the game with one easy step!

Iāve wondered this.
Make it like WoW.
It would be a fun experiment, at least.
you seem to have sarcasm detection problems
So on top of losing the fight when the tank dies, you also want to lose the fight when the healer dies too?
if anything 2-3-2 seems like a way more healthy scenario.
āSarcasmā implies a meaning behind it. You seem to not understand this term properly.
Seeing how only one tank feels, Iām good. We donāt need to remove the 2nd support. Letās not do that lol

Just sounds like another change that will have a negative knock on balancing nightmare effect like the tank situation did
lol as predicted with OW2
how about reworking everything into DPS?

Trying to wrap my head around the balance when thereās one support, so they have to juice them like tanks are currently.
lolno
And I say that as a support main.
