after Zero Hour, the recycling of “villain” was literally focused on Talon or Null Sector. especially in the two comics sagas (London Calling and New Blood), they are particularly morbid in not defining anything else among the threats that exist in the world of Overwatch. I could mention the classic “villains” like the los muertos, the junkers or the deadlock gang, but do you know we have other interesting subjects on which to focus the global threat to Overwatch?
- Overwatch’s “legal” villain: the United Nations. the world is made up of contradictions (otherwise Talon would not exist) and it is unlikely that there is not at all in the world of Overwatch a character who is serious about complying with the Petras Act. he could be a federal agent, or at least one of those who seriously influenced the closure of Overwatch after the blackwatch scandals. someone who represents the “government” at its most reluctant to accept that overwatch should intervene could seriously be an interesting point in the lore.
- the climatic anomaly of Mei’s studies: it is still ignored, but it is a very interesting element in her “niche”.
- independent villains? Sven (torbjorn’s old colleague) was an ideal example of someone who would like to act wrong in this world steeped in chaos.
at this point if the current interest in Talon and Null sector is just “they are bad” without an ounce of personality and charisma … then we contextualize the world of Overwatch in the rest of the factions. because there is nothing interesting to say here so far.
