People called Valorant an OW Clone and OW Killer when it was released as well.
I don’t think it’s anything we need to worry about it, because in an unexpected turn of events, OW killed itself.

There is a reason ow competitive scene is PC only, imagine playing with aim assist

tf2 is garbage ive tried playing that game in the past before i ever played overwatch i honestly didnt like tf2 at all tbh
I hope this game does well, but not ready to denounce myself from Overwatch forever. Considering it’s free to play I’ll 100% give it a go and I suggest others do as well, especially if there’s no OW2 in sight by then.
Such a waste of potential, this game would have succeeded if it wasnt based on gundam IP.
Look success of overwatch is largely due to the cast, their personality, tracer pixie, genji ninja, mercy angel, reinhardt knight.
The Gundam while looks pretty good gameplay wise to compete with overwatch, is lifeless, people dont want to play robots.
I will tell you another story, titanfall2 is mechanically a far far superior game than apex legends even fun wise, but never succeeded as much cause, people only like pilots and werent fan of big mecha eventhough they were fun like ronin.
But then apex legends came, you had naruto wraith, clown mirage, bruddah gibby, pathfinder the lost robot.
It succeeded beyond expectations.
You need great relatable heroes to succeed.
Also people like playing lively characters, like it can be a robot something like bastion zen pathfinder.
Not soulless mechanisations, which is why games like surge, many mecha games before have failed, and why gundam will be nothing more than a niche game and die eventually.
Overwatch has taken so much from other games. You’d be very surprised how much.
I wouldn’t go talking about taking influence from other games like it’s a bad thing.
Gaming as we know wouldn’t be where it is without it, for better or for worse.

The one thing I would like to note, is that this game is being made by BANDAI NAMCO Online, Inc. and not BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment, Inc directly. Both are part of the overarching BANDAI NAMCO Group and technically BNOI is under BNEI in the Video Games SBU division. If I remember right the BNO studio focuses on the more online-only free-to-play games with expensive microtransactions mechanics. Now whether that is reflected in this title, I am not entirely sure. But based on my knowledge of the overall corporate structure of my former employers and the appearance of this game, I feel like this game is a quick cash-grab. I hope I am wrong… Gundam is a respectable IP overall.

They haven’t had a new idea in a decade almost now.
Just beating the IP to death from all the creative people who jumped ship already.
Sad because it was a good company at one time.

It looks so generic and boring and suffers the same fate. Anything after OW is a clone. I know some clowns will say OW is a tf2 clone, but one game is vastly superior and that will always be OW.

OW2 wishes it can reach a classless state but still having heroes that have class-like qualities (i.e. every hero’s a dps but some with support qualities like heal abilities or some with tank qualities i.e. built to be on frontline and dive to contest key areas).
