New/old Symmetra ability?

Forgot about Reaper’s passive and Mei’s cryo. Maybe 250 with the extra 50 being armor/shields?

It was 1005 health.

20 chars

:open_mouth: I like that.
Or make it 100 shield and it decays in 2 or 3 seconds, like a teeny tiny Sound Barrier.

It was 1000 hp originally.

Let it share cooldown with Teleporter. Bam
Cycle between the two and choose between mobility or protection

What if she got a passive?

She starts the game with 100 health, 175 shield. (275 HP)

Level 2 beam lowers it to 250

Level 3 beam lowers it to 200

That way she has the health to get in closer and survive a bit more damage in order to charge up, but the more charged up her weapon is, the more glassy she becomes.

Just trying to think creatively lol.

Happens to often, idk why you cant delete your post

yeh i wasn’t sure if it was 1000 or 1500

I actually quite like this, it’s a good mix of risk versus reward.

This could easily be configured as a toggle ability. Hit your utility button (current turret button) left click launches a turret, right click launches the old photon shield.

It wouldn’t be as fast as having it dedicated to one button, but it’d still be leaps and bounds better than the nothing we have now for protection.

Plz no.
Symmetra 3.0 is a utility DPS, not an off-barrier tank, and adding another barrier ability to supplement her Wall Ult is too far in the wrong direction. Symmetra needs to be more efficient on offense, either with improved cooldowns or DPS, or a shield-regen mechanic tied to her primary.

We already tried that w 2.0 and it didnt work. In fact one of the worst aspects of 2.0, and IMO the reason it failed, was that it pit Symmetras best features from 1.0 against each other–the shields and teleports. She needs to be able to do both. She has only ever seen tournament usage and been meta when she was able to do tjis in 1.0.

The fact that it can easily be destroyed is counterplay enough.

@Xblade13

If Sym got a passive (and I wish she would) I would prefer it if she increased the rate of shield regen for herself and allies within a 50 m radius (no line of sight required) so that they regen after 1 second out of combat, instead of 2.

Unfortunately a popular youtuber who doesnt even play Sym said shortly before the Sym rework they dont want the devs to keep adding to her kit, so theyll probably ignore feedback from. sym mains in favpur of that.

@LogicRonin

Shes not an off tank? Thats straight up false. Many well respected and hi rank sym players consider her to be just that, and when u compare her to other offtanks like Mei or Zarya the similarities are even more obvious.

Right, but remember Sym 1.0, EVERYONE used the tele even though it didn’t give shield because it was OP to have an ability that allows team members to go from spawn INSTANTLY to the fight without the extra 15-20 seconds it takes people to make the long walk from spawn (especially if you’re spawning alone as orisa or mercy or something). Using a tele to quickly return the battle 100% changes the tide of a team fight. Adding a shield bonus on top of that is just OP. The other team already has to wait the ordinary amount of time for spawns AND no one has shields. Now everyone will go back to teleporting from spawn to the fight (and essentially force the enemy to forget the objective and first focus on locating the teleporter before returning to the obj.). Whether or not the 1.0 tele gave shield, EVERYONE used it. Adding a shield would just be too OP.

What was OP about early 1.0 Sym was that there was no counterplay to her shields. Sombra didnt exist, and there was no generator to destroy. Thats why the shield gen wasnt OP, and why it should come back.

Okay, but as you say, at the time shield gen existed there was no Sombra. There also was no Moira, Brigette, or current Torb. The game has changed and evolved since 1.0 Sym. Maybe a weaker shield would be feasible now, but all of this is water under the bridge because Blizzard is trying to make her a damage hero, not revert her back to a more support hero role. Even Torb lost his ability to give shield during his revert. It’s unlikely Blizzard would reintroduce a mechanic they’ve slowly been eradicating from the game.

There are more kinds of damage hero than just main dps, which is what you seem to consider as real dps. For example, offtanks are tank-dps hybrids, and its this kind of role I would like to see Sym nurtured as.

No idea why you think that considering I’m a Sombra main and fully realize how strong the power of denial – even without damage – is. I’ve effectively won games for my team by keeping all nearby health packs hacked making it easy kills for my team while giving them turbo heals, taking out weak players and flankers, at the same time.

So not sure what you’re basing your opinion off of, but rest assured I do not believe that the only kind of damage hero is just main dps. In fact, it’s for that exact reason I don’t play braindead76.

Why you suddenly talk about 1.0 ?
We are always talking about 3.0. My suggestion was all based on 3.0.

It’s weird that your 2 comments reply to different things, the 1st one you replied based on 3.0, and the 2nd time you were based on 1.0. You know what you are talking about ?

Could you list these “obvious” similarities between Symmetra 3.0 and off-barrier tanks, please?
Because I firmly think she is a utility DPS and not an off-barrier tank.

Uh… Let me see here…

She tanks with her face? For 200 damage? And umm… She protects the floor when she’s lying on it, dead? /shrug

You got me man… I have no idea how Symmetra could ever be considered a tank of any sort. Maybe 2.0 could have been, with her photon shield and shield gen HP, but 3.0?

Nope… Not a chance this side of hades.
