New Moira is stronger

The new ability is pretty much totally worthless

Had a game where my like 4/5ths of my team were hit by it, and we just ignored it and still won the teamfight

No. She can literally just wait for him to ult or have a yomi where she can lockdown the enemy dps ult by just holding it and never using it. Just like how in higher elo Sombra can hold EMP indefinitely just for the risk it poses to the enemy team.

I should remind you that Moira’s survivability WITHOUT necrotic orb is not even nerfed from OW1 as she has a regen passive.

A good Moira will make it very, very, very hard for the enemy team to force out necrotic orb so the dps can ult safely.

That is because they ruined her main playstyle by nerfing coal’s ult charge. Her tempo is broken and she therefore could not compete against Bap.

They are adding counterplay to DPS??, :eye::lips::eye:

Your specific complaint was that these abilities can mess up some ults. The answer to that is quite literally “deal with it”.

Changing the complaint to something broader now doesn’t make that go away.

Dam can’t try the changes till late tonight but it seems crazy

I say this as a masters Moira, who was taught by the top (Or near top) Moira in the EU. Damage orb and flanking to secure kills is core to Moira’s playstyle. Or at least was, she will be way less aggressive with these changes I think. Her damage potential just isn’t high enough.

That is what some people said to Brig 1.0… Look what happened to that?

That is what some people said to Widow pre-nerfs… Look what happened to that?

This ability is busted. Moira doesn’t need utility anyways. She just needs coal to be cheaper to build. That’s all she really needs.

The ability is so bad, that you can literally ignore it on half the cast

Doesn’t matter if she “needs” it. The devs wanted to give her playmaking potential, now she has that. I am happy she has that, so far it’s bee n a lot of fun

Dear lord, poor tank mains… which now includes me… oh no

Can’t wait to be pelted with necrotic orb and anti every single time I attempt to initiate combat.

Doesn’t refute what I said. They dumpstered Tesla’s defensive playstyle. Now her aggressive playstyle is the “proper way” to play her as she has no alternative.

Girl this is so wrong it’s funny.

Moiras whole thing was balance with healing and damage. To be able to heal while you throw out the damage orb was perfect. Her utility is how she can do both and help the team clean up. Now she is less than worthless.

The orbs feel so clunky and her only option for duels is to run away.

I’m actually shocked at how bad these changes are.

It brings several issues to the table was the general idea of my concern in this thread and others.
As is customary for blizzard to add abilities to easy mechanically demanding heroes, which is usually , “hit button and win”.
They wouldn’t want to anger the super casuals, the mechanically challenged, the non FPS players and whatever other groups of people fall into this category.

As a tank player, you can fully ignore it, it’s that bad.

Had a game against a Hog who I kept hitting with it, and he was still able to headshot kill people with his hook

Have not tried it out yet, but I guess it’s worse on paper than in practice?

Going to love doing even less damage as Doomfist though, truly putting the Doom in the name.

And? Half the abilities in the game are powerful deterrents.

Oh please, this isn’t even close to the same level as brig 1.0.

It’s better on paper than in practise

It’s probably one of the worst abilities in the game with how much you can ignore it.

Interesting point. I’m not against skill shots at all, but I do remember reading something recently about devs wanting to make some easier-to-play heroes. This patch seems counter to that, so we’ll see.

oops, that’s what I meant, yeah. Worded it poorly.

Don’t worry, it’s not going to stay  !

Most people will prefer the previous Moira anyways. However, there are other broken mechanics you don’t talk about like for instance anti-nade and JQ’s queen ult, especially when they’re combo-ed.

I feel like a lot of OW players (especially those in favor of 5 V 5 funnily enough) talk about “broken mechanics” when there’s an ability reducing damage dealt (which is the first one on Overwatch) and at the same time, Ana’s anti-nade was never looked into (I guess it’s because it reduces healing and not damage).

There shouldn’t be double standards. Either anti-nade and Moira’s new ability are both “broken abilities” or none of them are. Gotta choose, there’s no middle ground here  !

I agree that Bob’s ult should need some buffs. It’s a very original and hard to balance ultimate. There still should be ways of countering Bob though (without making him too weak).

Anti-nade says “hi” !

Also, it’s also very dumb for a team to remain stuck to each other. There should be abilities that force enemies to spread on Overwatch or else it favors team compositions (and strategies) that some people didn’t like when there were no role restrictions.

Then so should be anti-nade’s effect, Genji’s deflect, Ashe’s burn etc… Let’s be fair.

Then buff support’s damage instead. I wish my headshots with Ana and Baptiste to be more rewarded  !

And you’re still surprised ? If they kept OW1 a separate game, they would have had more room to maneuver whatever new direction they wanted for “F2P OW”.

They should have never caved in to the community’s demands to change OW1 into something it was not in the first place and when it comes to what you call “OW2”, it should have had its original game concept to begin with (and not copy-paste OW1) and stick to it, even if it meant releasing an FPS that is more classic with less role implications.

They’re making the same mistake they did on OW1 : trying to content the entire community at once, so they don’t feel excluded and remain on Overwatch to buy their incoming pricey skins. Typical.
