I don’t think this topic is new or a surprised to anyone. As someone who plays the game quiet frequently in gm/top 500, I think most players can agree that bap needs a nerf. Bap is single handily the worst and most busted hero in the game right now. Like seriously!!! A cooldown that makes the entire team immortal!!! Not to mention an ult every 30 seconds! You keep rotating the two and there’s your problem! I’m just begging for blizzard to remove/tone down his kit. I’m tired of making crazy plays, and it being countered with the click of a button. I genuinely think I speak for 100% of the gm/t500 player base. I’m sorry but if you clearly don’t understand why bap is so busted, you seriously don’t have a valid opinion about this game.
Um no just no he has a strong kit but it takes skill on how and when too use them
Bro anyone can play bap. I want you to look at the leaderboards right now. Tell me bap isn’t a problem
Immortality field takes no skill to use.
Low risk High Reward ability that is able to cancel out most ultimates, abilities and easily able to turn a fight around by negating kills
Sounds like we know a Bap main here. Takes skill how to use his Immortality field? LMAO ummm yeah okay. He is OP.
I mean, it isn’t an issue if your team also uses a Bap.
So why would a nerf be in place?
After all, if you don’t want to have mirror comps then you’re talking about how fun it is but not a competitive aspect… right?
I don’t think he’s OP. But I definitely understand the contention. But last time I checked… Overwatch is a team game based around using your brain to outplay the other players… So there is some credit (not much) to what he’s saying.
Correct… If you want to stay competitive, you adapt with the environment. Or you lose… And you deserve to in that case…
Thats why its so important to bait out. This IS a DPS players job… If they don’t force out lamp before going for a play then they deserve to have their play canceled.
You’re definitely a DPS main…
You’re a GM/T500 player and you don’t forcibly work with your team to bait out lamp before making these “crazy plays?”
Low key sounds like a “you” problem babe…
You are talking like it is easy and simple to bait out Lamp. To “bait” it out you either have to:
Use multiple abilities or ultimates to force the Baptiste to use it
or
Damage the enemy team to critical HP which forces the Baptiste to use Lamp, he can easily heal back his team to full HP while the lamp is protecting them.
In both scenarios you will have expanded a lot of resources to “bait” out one single ability.
This is not something you can simply do here in Masters+. Baptiste is provides too much value with his Lamp, which is why he is picked a lot.
Honestly, Immortality Field might as well be an ultimate.
I mean… Depending on the map and team composition, it “can” be…
But yes you are correct, its generally not an “easy” thing to do, and I don’t think I’m calling it easy. BUT… It IS the requirement if you’re playing against him.
Again, this is why I say its map/team comp dependent. If you’re on an open map, a coordinated attack on Bapt will force him to lamp himself to stay in the fight.
If you’re on Kings Row (for example) getting behind Bapt for engaging can prove very difficult.
But thats why you run brawl on Kings…
(obviously not required but notoriously acceptable)…
Yes… But again… Its what is required if you want to… “make crazy plays.”
Agreed…
This has been in debate for literally ever since the release of the hero. Remember when lamp used to have 250 HP, was on an 8 second cool down, and he put out like 150 heals over time to his team with Regen burst? Now THAT… Was busted…
But you’re right… Baiting lamp can be challenging… But thats literally part of playing against a Baptity…

Yeah, so what ur saying is that a button that’s on a cool down and is used every fight to counter any ult, is using a brain. That has to be the stupidest thing I’ve read on here to date holy. Apparently outplaying now is clicking a button… yup!
Here I was thinking you were about to engage in rational conversation and discussion. But you proved again that you’re just a rage baby who’s clearly not as good (OR STRATEGIC) in his approach to trying to win the game.
Get rolled kid… Cry to the forums who don’t care about you.
Ok bap isn’t a problem your the problem if you can’t a solution
Nah man I can’t climb out of silver/gold for a month bap 1 tricking he’s in a good spot.
No hero deserves to be nerfed into the ground, don’t let your emotions get the best of you. I know for certain Blizzard is very aware of Baptiste being an over the top hero in higher ranks as they are trying to figure out how to balance lamp while not making him trash for the general public (Hence that slap on the wrist change to lamp that will probably make it to live).
Personally I wouldn’t mind if they just removed lamp for an entirely new ability, it would probably make it soo much easier for Blizzard to balance Baptiste across the board.
Love how console gold players pretend to know more about balance than t500.
I would argue that being a player doesn’t mean someone understands balance.
At all…
I agree with this.
Even tho I am no where near your SR or the elo the OP is talking about I can see it happen, the happening being why Bap is considered to be way too OP in high ranks.
The people who say “you are GM/T500, bait it out” forget the fact that the Bap is GM/t500 as well for a reason and will not fall for basic “bait out” schemes.
In my elo it is a shame to see how much IF get’s thrown around like it has no cooldown whatsoever , but even I in Gold can notice the impact it has when used correctly. Got saved way too many times where I should have died because I made some blatant, stupid mistake and got a “free pass” for it.
I believe tho it did get a nerf in the Experimental, but have no idea whether or not it is going to go live.
Watched way too many ML7 streams where he actually saved his whole time from a perfectly timed ult combo from the enemy. It basically cancels out good teamplay imo.
Oh no a whole 500 players out of tens of millions don’t like a hero.
It’s not about “basic bait out schemes,” it’s about coordinating an attack (you know… teamwork) that threatens Baptiste enough to drop immortality.
Yes… I agree it’s not easy. But it’s really far from impossible. And honestly you end up killing them more than baiting out the ability which is effectively the same result.
In my opinion, if your DPS counterpart has ultimate and wants to use it, you should be actively working to shut down Baptiste.
If you’re not, then you’re playing for yourself and probably don’t understand a lot of fundamentals of the game.
Any competent Bap will track ults and will not be baited out to use it when they know an ult is coming.
