meta is getting so boring…shake things up quickly by nerfing rein, zarya, ana, moira and mcree. other opinion is only nerf rein and see how it affects other popular picks since rein is core and plague of everything.

When you say “popular heroes”
do you mean overall?
Or at particular ranks?
Are we nerfing popular picks where the majority play?
Or only for “the higher” end?
If were only nerfing the higher end, where exactly do we cut off what the “higher” end is?
Master/Gm literally account for about 1/20th the population on ranked/ladder play. Even if we include diamond, were talking about 10%ish of the playerbase.
And if thats the case- Id still ask “Why there”
At this point its not that bad tbh.
I agree about the heroes you mentioned but i think they need more of a slap on the wrist than serious nerfs.
well these popular heroes are popular almost in every rank…maybe gm and top 500 have some differences like lucio being more popular there…
What’s the cut off point for “popular”?
Are we separating pc and consoles from each other?
It will bring back double barrier. It’s still a powerful comp.

i look hero pick rates from different sites and these 6 are pretty popular compared to others
I understand, but- whats the cutoff point for this? Are you just picking the top 6 picked heroes and nerfing them because they’re the top 6?
Or is there a % break we’re looking for?
What about the possibility of any of these heroes only being popular because of their synergy with a particular hero?
For example- it’s quite arguable that rein is a big reason Zarya is so popular due to her inherent synergy with him
If we nerfed just rein, she’d probably drop down to some degree. Would we still nerf her anyways because she WAS popular with rein, even if she’s not without him?
What are you talking about there has been so much diversity in hero picks lately probably more than ever.

Doubt it. Orisas winrate is hot garbage in GM.
I don’t think it’s too bad. This month, winston, dva, hamster and hog are about the same. Orisa + hog is pretty trash but with sigma it’s still pretty powerful, just not as powerful as rein/zarya.
That’s literally what Jeff says they’re planning to do from now on, in the developer update video
He said they’re shifting philosophies on balance, before it was “Lets balance to make the game as fair and equal as possible for as many people as possible”,
but now it’s
“Lets balance whatever is the current meta so we get rid of it, and repeat for the next one that pops up, so it doesn’t stagnate”
I’m actually really surprised about dva winston winrate, especially in GM.
I thought people would understand how to play dive by that stage.
