Mystery Heroes Explained

Blizzard need to explain how mystery heroes algorithm actually works, convinced it picks a team at the start and stacks the “random” heroes to win. Had 4 games today each game the heroes where so skewed to one team. Don’t get me wrong I’ve had instances where the heroes were biased towards my team.

But I’ve seen far to many clutch holds where my team or the enemy team suddenly get a monster team that couldn’t be defeated, plus the so called multi role (tank) that isn’t supposed to happen that often is frankly a joke when you face 4 tanks and a mercy, considering you still get decreased ulti charge against tanks its a very 1 sided match.

Transparency would go a long way to reduce some of the multiple questions not only on this forum but multiple others across social media. Is it really a random hero generator or is it design to generate fun matches which fails spectacularly?

It’s mostly luck. If you roll a 20 sided die, it’s possible to roll the same number 4 times in a row despite the die roll being random.

Sometimes you get the same hero twice in a row. Sometimes you go between 2 heroes the whole match. Sometimes you only get heroes you’re really bad at. Sometimes your team gets 3 widowmakers on last defence on overtime and sometimes you got 3 mercys on first attack.

With all my years playing mh, it’s always seemed annoyingly random.

The losing team die more often and so cycle through unsuitable heroes more quickly and are then more likely to get a useful hero. This generally means there is a better chance of a comeback as the losers die and change heroes at a much higher frequency.

In general I find it leads to the losing team being first to get 3 tanks. When that happens a comeback is much more likely. If the winning team already has 3 tanks, and that’s why they are winning, then the comeback is less likely - often just a stomp.

MH is basically whichever team gets 3 tanks first wins most often. Now that they’ve realised that >2 tanks is bad, it would be nice if they applied it to more than just 6v6 to improve other modes plagued by too many tanks.

I played MH a lot for a few days to learn more heroes, but gave up because of the tank issue.

It’s random

And it’s not stacking the enemy team against you….if you are routinely stomping the enemy team, whether your rng is really good, theirs is really bad (or skill diff), what you’re doing is rerolling their rng…

Eventually something will come out that is either cohesive or simply counters what you have

There’s a bit of a mantra I have when it comes to MH:

Every dps you kill is potentially another tank or support

I don’t hard stick to it but it is something to keep in mind when you wonder why they all of a sudden have goats when you were doing well

It’s just the interior version of MH role queue which they ripped away from us! Give it back and make it ranked!

Its RNG. The problem is that Tanks should be limited to 2, and they are not.
Thats the only thing that needs to be changed really.

that and dupes

like it doesnt take rocket science to know they should limit the things that let the game mode get out of hand (especially when the base game already does so - for same exact reasons)

otherwise best game mode
