My sum up of Mercy mains

The one thing that comes to mind of Mercy mains is Navy Corpsmen. Docs always there to help no matter if you need them or not, always want to be involved in the fight even if it’s in the middle of the fight or following right behind it. Mercy mains have that sense of duty in overwatch, you guys never want to be left out of the fight nor do you quit even after some small nerfs. But I’ll tell you what I love me my mercy mains just that I don’t want to do your job when you guys are gone.

As a Mercy/Sombra main, I’ve been extremely discouraged with the direction they’re taking both heroes and have noticed I play the game MUCH less than I used to. Even from a few months ago, I used to play the game every single day after work and loved playing it, even if I was losing. After the most recent changes and absolute neglect for Sombra and Mercy, no matter how much of an uproar from the community, they shove their fingers in their ears and disregard what we DO NOT WANT. Yes, this Mercy needs nerfs. She always will because of the rework that nobody asked for. Sombra will continue to need buffs because these “buffs” did literally nothing to help her. They only shifted her power. And this is the THIRD TIME they have tried to shift her power without a straight buff, and it has FAILED. Because sombra’s power is not the problem, and no matter how much you shift her power, it will never fix her. She needs a straight buff. Not constant changes in where the power lies in her kit.

Sorry for the rant. We appreciate the post and the support, but most of us are giving up after screaming for a year. It is just tiring and we give up.

The Corpsman analogy is spot on OP!

Mercy mains for the most part are pretty chill and very dedicated.

But some are a little, uh, too dedicated.

Inb4 the trolls lol
I appreciate the post even if it hasn’t applied to me for about 4 monthes

The ones who don’t see the problem with her (her being OP and a must-pick for a year) are the ones that should probably take the dedication down a little. Lmao

They’re not as bad as they used to be.

I remember there were a few who swore up and down that she was totally fine during the Mercy 2.0 era, and that everyone just needed to “get gud”.

I think the majority nowadays just want Mass Rez back.

I’m on the Mass Res train. At least that Mercy didn’t receive any changes for 7 months. It was SO nice having a stable pick, not having to worry about nerfs or buffs or trying to relearn a hero constantly.

Also to actually feel heroic and awesome on something you did rather then requireing to be babysat by your teammates, that was also pretty awesome

I am too, but there are conditions:

  • LoS
  • The current (maybe slightly smaller) cast time
  • No E ability to compensate.

Could I compromise with ya a bit here
Instead of LOS we make it require melee range on one soul
I just knowh ow buggy LOS can be and combined with lag even the old rez had a habit of not grabbing people at the last second as you’re flying in
And if you’re giving a cast time then she gets Invuln after teh cast time, you get soft counterplay in a guaranteed dead healer or hard counterplay in the almost 2 seconds to stop a cast, not both.

She can’t have those restrictions (without compensation). There was a reason Mercy was called Suicide Mission Mercy. Any time she ressed, she died. And she was at the bottom of the F-tier list next to Bastion. Even with Mass Res.

If those restrictions were brought in with no compensation, she would be even worse than the original F-tier variant of herself. She would be the first G-tier hero. Lol

She would of course keep the invuln after rez that she had pre Mercy 2.0.

Maybe not LoS, but Rez CAN’T be instant or near instant. There has to be some counterplay to it.

I never want to see invuln frames again. That was a horrible idea that pushed people to hate Mercy so much. THAT is what caused the inability to counter her after the Resurrect was already cast. Before that, if Mercy died while ressing, your team basically won the fight. The enemy is down their main healer. GG. But invuln frames is what made her feel so frustrating to play against. It should never return, but Mass Res should, with changes of course.

Also, invuln frames encouraged hide-and-res. If you let your team die before invuln frames, you were GUARANTEED to die resurrecting them. So you stayed and fought until you felt the team needed res. After invuln frames, you could let them all die and come in and know you will live until they’re ready to fight again. Being down a main healer is a HUGE advantage to the enemy team. And after invuln frames, it guaranteed the enemy would never be down their main healer.

I really want an E just for the sake of participating more in the fight (toggling beams are only fun up to a very limited point)! Mercy really need a skill-shot that is actually a transferable skill. It doesn’t (and shouldn’t) be anything super strong, just something to make her more engaging. I really like the idea of Pacify for a new E, the numbers can always be tweaked if it turns out too strong.

If Mercy has Mass Res, she cannot have a utility-based standard ability. Mercy 1.0 had no utility outside of her ultimate because her ultimate was very powerful. That WAS her utility. If they add utility to her base kit, such as a cleanse, it will not fix the issue we currently have, because again, she will have too much utility and will do her job better than any other support.

I would say more restrictions on her ult would balance out a new E, and I do think she needs one. Honestly, I’d rather they scrap damage boost if it became a matter of “there can only be one”. Mercy needs to become more engaging, and she needs to have part of her kit be more transferable.

I just don’t think Mercy should have a utility E ability if she has Resurrect at all. Giving a hero who’s ultimate is 100% utility more utility outside of her ultimate (especially a cleanse. Something no hero but Zarya has), ensures her must-pick title. If any hero is going to receive a cleanse, it should not be Mercy unless they get rid of Res.

Pacify isn’t a cleanse though, it’s just offensive damage reduction.
