Mutations is what this game needed

Play Pokemon long enough and you’ll learn to hate RNG affecting your games. Most game platforms I have ever seen within communities always always always do whatever they can to take out RNG from the game.

The ENTIRE smash scene for fighting games for tournaments small and large universally remove items and ban stages with largely random elements because it removes control from both players. Hard to feel competitive when the result of a game can give a huge advantage at the turn of a dime.

The pokemon scene even has specific clauses to ban things like being able to put multiple Pokemon to sleep where you have no way to get them up except for RNG or banning evasion moves that turn the game into a highly RNG state.

Competitive communities HATE RNG. Its only casual audiences that like RNG because in many cases the RNG can work in a players favor and give them success they would otherwise lose. The system would have to be very robust and deterministic. Paladins card system is pretty decent for stats and things, but yeah, absolutely cannot use randomized effects.
