Mouse and keyboard support for console

You should get a job & buy a PC. Console is a joke & for kids , time to boss up OP .

It’s worth taking a step back to look at the bigger picture here. True, PC gaming does have a larger global user base, around 900 million compared to 629 million console gamers. However, the console gaming market actually generates more revenue. It’s a significant part of the gaming industry, supported by millions of players worldwide and contributing more to overall revenue than PC gaming.

Not everyone needs or wants to buy a gaming PC, and that doesn’t make their platform of choice any less valid. Consoles are a more affordable and accessible entry point for many players, offering an easier experience without the need to worry about upgrades or compatibility. Gaming is about enjoying the experience, regardless of platform, and dismissing console players entirely ignores the value they bring to the industry.

I don’t play on console…but are there different queues for the different systems for competitive? Or can a Switch player be in a game with a PS and an Xbox player? I don’t necessarily mean in the same party, but in the same competitive game.

I’ve never seen a Switch player in my game and I play on both console (PS5) and PC.

I’m pretty sure Switch has its own player pool unless you’re queuing up with either an Xbox or PS user, just like how it works when you’re queuing up with a PC player as a console player.

I’m not 100% sure, but I think cross-play works like this by default:

No crossplay in competitive between any player pools

Switch (Switch player pool)

Xbox and PS (Console Pool)

PC (forced cross-play)

It’s honestly super confusing.

be better just to perfect controllers that give the same responsiveness.

controller design is dumb based on an initial design and any improvements are sold as elite versions that cost a fortune.

It is dumb when console makers do this. i understand private controller companies doing it but for example sony should make the edge controller the main controller and similarly microsoft should ship the elite 2. Those limiting decisions of greed are hurting this game but gaming in general imo.

keyboards are dumb. they aren’t better. better to have a controller with better thought buttons or triiggers.

but mice THEY ARE better than pointing with a joy stick. A lot more accurate, thats where the real difference lies. So controller makers need to add an ability to aim better. The switch gyro is definitely a step towards this. it really makes targetting a lot more mouse like, but needs a lot of refinement, the mouse isn’t subject to the instability added from other controls whereas pointing from gyro on the device you’re mashing buttons on and moving joysticks on to battle is at times difficult.

the old grey keyboard mouse warriors are holding gaming back imo. But also the tight butt short sighted greedy console manufacturers are also.

I looked it up, switch is in the same pool as PS and xbox. Probably not many players on switch that take competitive ow seriously though

it definitely is.

i played on pc, ps5, xbox and switch over Christmas break to compare them.

I can use a controller, but it only matches me with pc players. (maybe some crossplay if they are grouped with pc)

There are but it’s not the default, the default is cross play so all the consoles are mixed in match making together. You can disable cross play so it then becomes your specific console pool only, I am led to believe the queue times are very long and the match quality is poor. If you look in a player’s profile you can see if they’ve ever played with cross play disabled in competitive as duplicate season(s) appears with differing statistics alongside a small icon noting the specific console platform.

Anyone in crossplay can group up with other platforms in a similar way to PC. There are also system-specific settings which can disable things like text and voice to other platforms whilst still enabling crossplay. People who are detected cheating with unauthorised peripherals are warned, then if use continues, are put into the PC pool with aim assist disabled on their account.

I don’t think this is a good idea, Overwatch has handled it better than those. Mainly because the majority of console players do not want match making that puts them against those using software cheats on PC on top of having the same input device; say, in a manner similar to how Call of Duty does it’s heavily criticised thing lumping PC and console controllers together (plus mouse and keyboard!).

What Blizzard should do is once a user has plugged in a mouse and keyboard to the console is offer a pop up a like the warning which states if you proceed with match making the account will be moved to the PC pools to be grouped with other mouse and keyboard users and aim assist disabled. Options for mouse settings added to their client as well, of course. I don’t think it will impact Xim use as those people want their cake and to eat it but the above would enable a minority who wish to be able to play in PC competitive with a mouse and keyboard on their console.

THIS, I only play with a controller on PC and I feel I have a real disadvantage.

It would be better if you campaigned to have aim assist enabled when you use a controller on PC instead.

It should be off by default competitively at least, QP is whatever so let whomever play with whoever.
