Most Obvious Balance Issues in New Patch:

Alternate solution:

Stop trying to do literally everything except go back to 6v6 in order to solve the abhorrent issues in 5v5.

pls buff illari she struggling hard rn

Yeah, they seem unusually strong at low ranks currently. But i don’t think nerfs are necessary. Because i also think those are the only playable support.

Ehhhhh idk I think her survivability in most situations is pretty similar to last patch. Mercy as a hero’s survivability comes from being hard to hit. She’s now much less hard to hit.

I’m not tbh. I think if they hadn’t she’d be pretty bad with the projectile size changes. The self healing buff also just serves to keep her self regen about where it was last patch with the new DPS debuff in the game, and I think makes up for the fact that the support regen passive (which is her original passive that her kit was built around) has been nerfed by another .5 seconds activation time.

Overall I think her survivability is about the same as it was last patch.

It’s not though, not season 1 values at least. Superjump has a CD of 2.5 seconds now as opposed to 1.5 seconds like in Season 1, which I think is a lot more fair. Slingshots have a CD of 1.5-2.5 seconds instead of a flat 1.5 seconds. It’s definitely stronger then before the patch tho when it was a 2.0-3.0 CD range!

I think her movement/survivability is genuinely fine right now, but I think damage boost and rez are the problematic areas.

Rez basically got a flat buff in the form of the 50 more HP because it’s not like bigger projectiles really matters when hitting stationary rezzing Mercy.

And damage boost is kinda cracked right now :grimacing:

I think my best bet is to nerf my OW2 playtime and call it a day. Time to give all my data to Helldivers 2’s shady kernel level anti-cheat.

It’s actually frustrating watching the kill cams and seeing her get headshots when the crosshairs aren’t even on the model, yeah. Same for Hanzo and Mercy.

He does but on the other hand he is butter right now against focus fire with the dps passive.

Agree, tho I feel like Zen ironically is getting more benefit out of this but he’s also throwing dodgeballs now instead of baseballs.

I’d also like to say that Symmetra turrets and Ashe dynamite are absolutely nasty at the moment due to how the passive interacts with ticking damage. To a lesser extent unhacked Virus is also a problem but it depends on how well the sombra/her team follows up on it.

But these are just my observations.

Hmm…let’s see

I can:

Suggest realistic changes to improve the enjoyment of the game or

Ask for 6v6 back which isn’t happening and accomplishes nothing by not improving the current game

I think I’ll stick with what I’m doing but thanks!!

Never say never. At this point it seems like just about anything is on the table.

Mercy not need more nerfs.

Of course never say never. But if they would rather buff the HP and bullet size of every hero in the game than go back to 6v6, maybe it’s a strong hint that 5v5 is here to stay and be iterated upon, lol

Yeah, Widow’s bullet size needs to be reduced. I agree with that.

The whole “we’re trying to address burst damage” but increasing her bullet size to make headshots easier :sob: Ugh. I hope they reduce it in their next patch.

I would trust Aurora’s assessment on Mercy far more than I’d trust yours. They are a top-level Mercy.

The only unrealistic part of 6v6 coming back is the devs being far too stubborn to do it. It is in no way an impossible task to accomplish, and it would solve a considerable number of issues with the game balance caused by the 5v5 format.

That was mostly a tongue in cheek comment. Obviously 5v5 is the format and unlikely to change. Don’t mind me.

where’s the mercy nerf in this patch can you please point to it

Widow aside, I’ve played two games against Tracer and it was insufferable both times.

It would bring as many issues at it would solve though…lol. Tank duos and tank synnergy comps being too strong and hard to balance. Queue times getting higher across the board since no one likes queueing for tank. Wish people would stop pretending 6v6 is a magic fix lol. It was changed for a reason even though I liked it a lot myself

Idk what intern at Blizzard thought that these changes would make the game SLOWER.

If anything, t he game feels much faster

Those problems can be solved with balance changes and hero changes. Tank synergies were only an issue when new heroes came out with broken and overloaded kits (i.e. sigma). Prior to that, multiple tanks existed in the game for many years just fine and were never broken.

Obviously I’m not suggesting they just set the player count to 6v6 and call it a day. It would require rebalancing the heroes appropriately. But 5v5 has a number of issues that are literally unsolvable, like the rock paper scissors counterplay for tanking right now. There is literally no way to solve that with balance. It’s just an inherent property of having a single tank.

I wouldn’t say that, tbh. We’ve had 3 and 4 tank metas in the past that existed prior to Brig.

They do make it slower, until a damage boost or high burst hitscan is played lol

Hitscan are gonna need their projectile size tuned down a bit for sure and the new DPS passive is pretty nuts

So are they just supposed to never add new tanks then? Never add new tanks that have shields? That’s such limiting hero design for an entire role.
