More leavers (and backfill) again?

I played last night and got backfilled several times. I played 4 games this morning and 2 of them were backfill near the start of the game.

Has something changed? Are penalties not working? Is some hero causing people to leave? I normally get backfill once or twice in a long session. Yesterday and today it almost felt like it was back to the old days before penalties.

What gives?

Update: perhaps it’s widow without sombra contesting. Not sure if it was every backfill, but some were definitely against widow.

Its a new season with new players trying the game. To me, thats all the explanation needed. Newbs leave matches when they cant face adversity. Not exclusive to newbs, obvi, but they are the predominant group that leaves matches a lot.

Played a game for some while ago and had a leaver (hope it wasn´t for I used my rally and stunned him/her while he/she was using death blossom).
