From what i understand, she was made as to appeal to the DPS to play support.
Well, what makes DPS so fun for most people is aim, so why put this soft lock on thing in her? Increase her DMG in my opinion and make her not have this soft lock on.
She doesnât have a soft lock onâŚ
She does. She certenly doesnât need aim like zarya, Itâs a small lock on, but it is a lock on non the less
Lock on meaning once her reticle leaves her target it stays on?
No, Moira does not have a lock on.

Just in the begining of the video you can see the way on the tracer how it locks on
Just because the animation bends towards the target does not mean the hitbox bends towards the targetâŚ
Watch the video past the first 20 seconds, the âlock onâ is completely cosmetic. It only looks that way so you donât suck the life out of someoneâs arm instead of their chest, that would look silly.
Right, since she sure does a lot of damage with it.

Blizzard should seriously pin that BTC video and Jeff Kaplan should make a statement so that people who have no idea how video games work might actually get it through their heads that Moira DOES NOT have a lock-on of any kind.
There is no such thing as a soft lock in Overwatch, the only reason you think there is, is because 1) she has no ammo. 2) her animation changes drastically when she is hitting someone. and 3) she appears to be hitting them in the middle of their character model no matter where on their hitbox they are hitting them.
If someone walks infront of Moira while she is attacking someone else then the VERY INSTANT they walk infront of her she will be damaging them instead. It DOES NOT LINGER on the initial target. Her weapon works EXACTLY like a Zarya laser, you just donât realize it because it is Overwatchâs very own optical illusion.
Still you donât have to aim, look at how big that circle is. The fact that she doesnât have to aim is the problem because she was made to attract DPS players
The beam âTrackingâ an opponent is purely a visual effect; Itâs an abstract representation of Moira essentially having a fatter than normal âBeamâ. Imagine her attack shooting straight out like Zaryaâs primary fire, but with a wider/taller targeting reticle. As long as your opponent is in that zone it hits, and her little baby beam swerves within that âWorking areaâ to make it seem as if itâs more complex an interaction than it really is.
A lockon would allow Moira to do things like turn away from her opponent while still damaging them or continuing to damage an opponent behind cover after catching them in the open initially, but thatâs simply impossible aside from latency issues.
YES YES! SHE HAS A FAT BEAM! that is the problem, if she was supposed to attract DPS players why would they give her this fat beam?
I have no idea what you are trying to say
Who claimed she was supposed to attract DPS players? I always thought that was Zenâs job.
You do need to aim. Watch the video I linked. It shows how the area of her reticle is larger but the target hitbox has no âpaddingâ. Standard DPS players have bigger hit boxes to play with. Moira doesnât. Itâs a trade off. Youâre complaining about nothing.
You see that circle that is meant to signify where you can hit a player? Yeah, that is too big, What circle would a Mccree have? A dot. So if she was designed to appeal to DPS to start playing support, why would they make that circle so big?
Watch the video I linked.
IMO it is ok for main supports to be a bit more forgiving in terms of mechanics because they usually have to pull the weight of being maincallers in ârealâ games. The orbs are lock-on so it would be a bit counter intuitive for her beam to be strict in regards to aim.
Hitboxes are normally larger than what you can actually see for nearly every character, but Moira does not benefit from the extra padding on every single character modelâs hitbox. So the dot makes up for that.
