Let’s be frank here, every hero needs those, mechanically demanding or not. It’s like playing a fighting game with one character having the ability to apply mad comboes at a press of a button, and his mains come in and play the: “Well yeah he has easy execution, but you need to have good strategy, keep track of the health bars and timer, time your abilities at the right opportunities, and know whether to block or attack”.
It doesn’t justify it because every character has to be aware of those too…
What does justify Moira is very simple: Low DPS. It’s a tradeoff of having low damage for ease of use, essentially putting a hard skill cap to her.
And you would be right, but for the wrong reason. Most players are stuck down because they lack the game sense. In that case, choosing Moira or a different healer won’t do them any good. They are stuck there until they learn the game.
If, however, that player has good game sense, but is stuck down purely because of his mechanics, then switching to Moira would yield significant results.
Moira is the easiest support hero though. I wonder if anybody will dispute this. also the idea “if x is so easy, why aren’t you the gm/the best with x?” is flawed. not being a gm player doesn’t change how forgiving moira is relative to the other heroes.
Fade exists, her positioning is only a factor when fade is off CD for a total of 6 seconds, she is also one of the few heroes who can heal themselves while attacking which makes those 6 seconds even less dangerous
Unless you hold your healing until it runs out completely, her resource refills pretty quickly plus you have healing orb and coalescense, what kind of management is required if she has a crutch for everytime she runs out of resource?
her choices are meaningless again because she has a crutch for everything, if danger comes she can fade out or heal orb herself while dealing damage or increase her dps to 100 dps with dmg orb or just coalescence and move really fast, any choice of hers results in free value except maybe diving 1v3 but at that point, come on
Every healer does require this, however Moira requires LESS than the rest because of the same things I’ve said 3 times already
Except she’s so boring that even with a broken kit people avoid her as much as they can and even then, throughout all ranks Moira’s numbers are insanely high
There is, but I doubt moira has much of that too considering how easy it was for me to get my 2nd account to 3.9k as moira, just a little below my main sr (lucio). I had only a few hours on moira and hundreds on lucio.
I don’t mean to be mean, but she is an easy healer. She doesn’t need much positioning like Mercy or Brig. She has a 6 second fade ability that can be used to get away quickly, like Mercy, but unlike Mercy she becomes invincible on top of that. She doesn’t need to aim to heal, and all you have to do is chuck a heal orb into her team to get more value. Her ult does make her have to aim, but she also gets a speed buff, and the hitbox for the beam is huge. On top of that she gets self heal buff.
That’s not how this works. We don’t see a lot of Master and GM Moira one tricks because as skill goes up the inherent advantages that Moira uses vs the lower ranks no longer work. That doesn’t stop her from being easy. It just means that her ease of use doesn’t matter when the best players of the game can derive more value from other characters through skill.
This actually shows how easy she is when Moira is so prevalent in the lower ranks but can’t translate that into success in the higher ranks. Most of her power is frontloaded.
I completely agree with this, especially that last point. When I play Moira its usually because Im being bullied by people in our backlines when I’m on Ana. I avoid Moira even if she is free SR.
Her “bounds” are only limited to how fast the other player kills her. If you are ever in a 1v1 with Moira, a timer starts the moment the duel does. If you fail to kill her before it ends, you die.
Moira’s only bound is how good the other player’s mechanics are.
Moira can and very well does go on the attack, even without her ult. It’s not suicidal, depending on the rank she often succeeds.
Brig laughs out loud … Moira can’t come close … and the skills needed to hit Masters (or even Diamond) are generally beyond the kit itself and apply to any character. The real questions is skill for skill, assuming equal extra-kit skill, how far can you take her kit vs. one requiring more mechanical skill…
If what you say is true I doubt the Coaches would advise avoiding her due to her kit design, and pros wouldn’t refer to the kit as the “Hero For Dummies” design.
Moira doesnt even have any utility, she only have her high healing output, if you can even call that a utility. Every other supports have different utilities like Res, Discord, Sleep Dart, etc that can be super helpful and change a team fight direction if used properly. What does Moira have that can, change a team fight ? Nothing. Her entire kit iz based on damage to heal style, her ult is just both of her primary and secondary combine together. Idk why people complain shes OP, in tier above Diamond shes trash compared to other supports.
Moira does not only have strong heals… I don’t know why people cling to the idea that she doesn’t offer anything else, just think about the reasons you would choose to play this character.
she has excellent survivability - Fade is a self cleanse, escapes grav, makes you immortal, hides your position, and gives you great mobility… All on a very short cool down.
Her damage abilities all require no aim at all, with 100dps potential outside of ult. Since her damage is not aimed it is consistent it counters all mobility based characters. Having damage that does not require aim is a form of utility since it straight up counters mobility.
Her heal is not just strong, it is extremely consistent (you don’t need to aim it at all and I’m not sure how you actually run out), strong AoE healing is also a form of utility as it hard counters splash and cleave damage.
She is able to heal and damage through shields with her ult and orbs.
She is able to not only heal and damage at the same time, but also there is no delay between healing and damaging so she is always able to easily get key picks and contribute to the damage output of her team.
She can heal herself while under-fire, combined with her fade this makes her extremely self-reliant, requiring little help from her team if attacked.
I do not feel Moira is anywhere near as easy as many perpetuate her to be
I also do not feel shes particularly “hard” in comparison to some of the competition that I would consider to be hard.
As far as I’m concerned- the truth is somewhere in the middle here, as tends to be the case in reality.
However
Even if she WAS “ez” (and again- I don’t feel this is true), I wouldn’t expect players to suddenly flock to her- nor would I use the lack of players doing so to be evidence of the contrary.
Only so many players are going to want to play support, only so many of them are going to want to play Moira, in competitive environment there will always be another support to pick,
But the biggest- “ez” doesnt always mean powerful, which is going to be one of the biggest factors in a game where players are pressure to play what the community tends to consider “meta”
