Misogynistic person in Overwatch?

I do mute people, I usually have most of my team muted either if they are spamming mic with unimportant information and I need to call out their flankers (hearing their footsteps) or just whatever. Having them all muted makes it sure for me to be able pretty much call out everything that happens during fights because then I don’t feel awkward because it’s like they’re not there XD

It sounds so cliche, but you gotta find a way to shrug it off. Don’t ignore it and forget it: the report and block person buttons are there for a reason. But in game try to do what I do when hateful homophobic remarks start getting made, I ignore the intent behind them and address the message. You’re insulting me because I didnt get to heal you? Communicate and stay within range and I will heal you, I try not to address the hateful speech used. If they continue the speech then I block and mute the person and say to the team that I cannot hear what that person is saying because that person is now muted. Usually my teammates will laugh and agree that they have muted that person and will continue to work together and once that person realizes they are muted from everyone they just ruined their own playing experience. You cant change or encourage people to behave better but you can work towards promoting a healthier experience by excluding them. Like children, they eventually learn the consequences. Good luck and best wishes for your gaming experiences going forward!!

Don’t EVER respond to toxic trolls, mute them immediately. If more people get toxic just leave chat and disable text too. Then listen to some music and keep playing and laugh about these raging basement dwellers. Some games are just like this, people will yell at me sometimes or get creepy or make fun of me (“grill? grill??”) but I just mute and block. The most awkward thing for a troll is to get nothing back, just silence. It’s the best way to combat them. And don’t forget to report

The problem was, apart that was needed a second healer, is that you replied your team and then, all begun and the worst of the human feelings materialized.
Also you swapped to Mei due to frustration, giving your team even a much less chance to win.
Never reply a tilted team, NEVER. Are they gross to you? Mute+report combo and move on. You will never get any positive result from replying in those kind of games were the team composition is awful (because they already know it).
And yes, you should have tried your best… but i understand how frustrating is being the only healer the team has while the enemy team is naturally focusing you.
Unfortunate game, but for sure the next ones will be more enjoyable.

when you encounter a person like this just mute them and report them for abusive chat other than that not much you can do, sadly

as much of a point you’re trying to make, this ruins it. you became apart of the problem by not trying. just mute the people who are rude or annoying and keep trying. this does not mean you had to switch back to healer, but people should just try and play what they are comfortable with.

This may sound weird, but i think I’ve played with you on another account before. Your call outs are wonderful, and you shouldn’t let people get you down or discourage you from continuing.

Like others have suggested, when you hear someone start insulting or arguing with you or others, or suspect they probably will: it’s tempting to fight back or comment on it, but it’s a waste of energy, it’s not worth it. Just mute them as fast as you catch on to it. Advise others targeted to also. That’s what I do. I know myself when I start replying to things, I lose focus on the game.

One/two a person muted off the team, isn’t as harmful as getting you getting tilted/distracted/whatever it be from their abusive clutter for the entire game, future games to come, or just flat out ruin your mood for the day. Also realize that in reality of it all, they are just a complete stranger, insulting someone who they also; don’t even know themselves.

I don’t think I did become a part of the problem, they weren’t trying their best to win so I don’t feel like I should have to bend over backwards to please them. Especially when they are rude.
However this is a complete matter of opinion and I do respect what you’re saying. Thank you for taking the time to post here

Man I’d like to punch someone misogynistic like that right in the throat.
