Tanks are not powerfull. They are required to play the game. They are as powerfull as healers because they are the only ones that can protect. And currently? Playing tank is miserable because you have 2 options if you want to win: Zarya or Rein.

They couldnāt even patch one DPS, their largest role, to be even remotely balanced. Do you seriously think they could fix all the tanks?
Queue times wonāt be fixed because a) Blizzard is incapable of making certain roles enjoyable and b) the game is kinda dead.

Metro has yet to be wrong, so I guess this is as close to confirmation as weāre gonna get.
@tank debate: tanks have indeed been the least favored role since the game started. Even in free queue tanks were rare, you just didnāt feel it since queue times werenāt divided by role. There is always going to be a least popular role, and I am fairly sure it will always be tanks. So there is no āfixingā queue times, only marginally improving tank queues so they donāt bottleneck the matchmaker so much. And the BEST way to do that will be introducing new tanks. You can rework and overbuff our current tank roster all you like, but they arenāt going to offer anything new. We need new playstyles, new synergies and more competition for playstyles among the tank roster, and you only get that with new additions.
Youād be naive to believe tanks are not strong. Theyāre not just a forced requirement because youāre forced to pick 2 of them, otherwise we would never see them picked in open queue.
And no, rein/zarya are not the only two viable heroes. Must be why the meta in GM right now is still double barrier with Orisa/Sigma.

I was seriously expecting a christmas release date, but I guess not.
Literally doing nothing is a better alternative than completely breaking the balance of the game beyond measure.

Which leads me back to the āblind idealismā and you not having a clue what youāre talking about.
Fixing queue times isnāt optional. Itās do or die. I.e. Killing the game.
And avoiding role stacking through balance is a thing of the past with 2-2-2.
And shows a fossilized mentality if you think itās still important.

To the OP:
So, assuming this is to be believed. It will be about a year and a half before we get any real information about OW2.
And, at that time (unless something changes between now and then), we well have ended up not having a new map in OW1 for about 2 years and no new Hero for 1 year.
Honestly, I feel this just goes to show they announced the sequel way too early and they pulled back on OW1 way too hard. This game has been on āMaintenance Modeā for quite some time already. And it sounds like the earliest we might even see OW2 is early to mid 2021.
I know the whole āOW is a dead gameā thing is a bit of a meme, but they arenāt helping themselves with how they are handling the ābirthā of OW2 and the ādeathā of OW1. They just leave us here, waiting, with nothing but silence and recycled content to ātide us overā until the vague release date of this gameās āsequelā.
Honestly, love OW or not, love the idea of OW2 or not, you have to admit that they havenāt handled this IP/game well, in the last couple years. Even if you think things like balence is the best itās ever been and you have no issue with the Q times or think smurfs are not a problem or whatever, I donāt know how anyone can look at this game and be happy with the lack of communication from the people who make it and the lack of new content for the people who play it.
But, maybe thatās just me

When OW was first announced at Blizzcon 2014, they then showed us multiple heroes and stuff leading up tp Blizzcon 2015, and then at Blizzcon 2015 they gave us a release date.
They HAVE to say something about OW2 before the end of 2020, they just have to.

Well they probably were originally going to announce a release date at blizzcon in November. Itās only a few months of extra waiting and it maybe will give them more time to polish the game.

Or if we remove Sombra and Doom, that would probably bring a lot of tank players back.
Also how is this on topic at all? What does queue times have to do with pvp content.
