Mercy Rez and Valk Replacements

Here are some ideas for potential replacements for valk and rez. From a mid diamond main healer player (most hours on Mercy overall).

Keep healing at 50hps and keep valk but make heals during ult 70hps to make it feel more like a high impact support ult. Rez would be removed and replaced with an ability that was designed by the youtuber Blame the Controller. His ability idea is called Miracle Worker and does the following.

9s cooldown (id prefer 10-12)
Single target ability that lasts 5 seconds or until ally takes lethal damage. If the ally takes lethal damage before the 5 seconds are up, they are healed for 50 and death is prevented unless they take more damage. If the ally doesn’t take lethal damage and the 5 second timer runs out, they are healed for 100. Similar abilities include Ana’s bio nade which does 100 burst healing and increases healing done (can be used to save near death allies) and Brigitte’s repair pack, which heals for 150 and has an overheal that provides temporary armor (also can save near death allies). This would be a good replacement for rez since it has counterplay potential and prevents death instead of erasing kills.

Option 2:
Replace valk with a new ultimate that I came up with. Name is wip but I’m thinking either Angelic Light or True Form. This ability is a cone ability, like earthshatter, but instead of stunning enemies, it blinds them. Here are some details.

Ult charge increased by 15%
A cone blind ability that happens after a 1.5 second cast. All enemies, even behind shields, that are within los of Mercy within a large cone infront of her are blinded by an intense light for 3 seconds. The enemy will slowly regain vision over those 3 seconds. They will still be able to move during this ult and forms of counterplay include being out of the cone radius, or hiding behind objects in the environment. This would tie in well with her whole angel shtick since, in lore, an angel’s true form is so bright and intense looking at it causes blindness or insanity. This could set up for interesting plays and would incentivise team work to hit the enemy while they’re blinded.

Her E ability could be either Miracle Worker, or a version of Valk that lasts 5 seconds, no aditional mobility is granted, chain beams heal / damage boost by half of its normal value while the targeted ally is healed / dbed for normal value. And the cooldown would be 12s.

Too op? Too underpowered? Any changes you want to make? Let me know what you think!

Dude it doesn’t matter. They don’t care about any suggestions we make. Just stop playing her, thats the only thing to do. Because she’s gone. She’s dead and she’s not coming back. End of story, its over.

Yup boycotting her current state is the best thing we can do now. Ideas are always great however

Or you can just swap the two skills… Ult goes back to mass rez with balancing tweaks and Valk becomes the new E ability. Remove chain healing and her regen rate for increase damage/healing beams, she can still fly around tho.

Removing rez would be a terrible thing since it’s tied to the character with sprays, trophies and a voice line dealing with rez.

Valkyrie would be OP as an ability. She would have too much survivability then.

Not she wouldn’t, keep it as the same speed and lasts for 5 seconds with 10-15 seconds cooldown that starts at the end of animation so it can’t be spammed.

She wouldn’t gain any extra mobility. I also forgot to include that she wouldn’t have the constant self heal. It would just be chain beams.

She would have Guardian Angel, Super Jump, Valkyrie, and GA hop to escape enemies with. That’s not even including her regen.

I’m not even going to talk about how it makes Hide and Rez even stronger.

I was replying to someone else.

Oh sorry about that. It wasn’t linked to their comment so I had assumed that it was about the post itself.

Then remove Super Jump, GA hop and regen.

Hide and Rez wasn’t even a problem to me before the rework. If Mercy is hiding, she’s not healing that should be sending a signal to everyone on your team that they are planing a rez.

Yeah, if you reply and no one commented in between, it doesn’t make it look like it’s linked.

So leave her with nothing but GA and Valk.

Just because they don’t have a healer doesn’t mean they can’t take down one of you teammates first. If you do mange to kill them, Mercy can just use Valkyrie then us GA to get close and Rez. Then the enemy has at least a one man advantage and has support from Mercy’s Valkyrie.

Pretty much with those two abilities should give her plenty survivability.

If the enemy team kills one of your team members without a healer then that’s not a Mercy problem. The biggest counter towards rez is ult economy. if you throw everything and the kitchen sink at the team and don’t plan on the Mercy if you do/don’t stop her than that’s on you.

In my experience, HUD-blanking blind effects tend to infuriate players if they have a duration that is a significant percentage of the average TTK. Imagine your screen going white, you hear yourself die, and then when the HUD reappears you are staring at a death timer. They are technically weaker than stun effects, but they make players way more angry.

I don’t think you could get away with a duration longer than 0.5 seconds in Overwatch for such an ability. Which, is not to say you couldn’t have the effect, but it’d have to be a basic ability instead of an ult.

I’m more for giving Mercy a complete rework, but keep the core aspects of her original kit. I’d rather see Valk removed and Rez put back on as an Ult, but instead of tweeks, it gets a whole new set of rules.

Personally, I think they should give her a similar rez ult like Khepri from SMITE.
His rez is more of a buff that’s applied to an ally with a time limit attached to it. If the ally dies within that timeframe, they get rezzed and teleported back to him. If the timer runs out and the ally dies, they stay dead.

Mercy could benefit from that system as an ult. She could pick up to a certain amount of teammates to receive this “rez-buff” for a short amount of time. She’d have to be at a certain distance from the intended teammate, and that teammate would need to be alive to receive the Rez-Buff. It would require mercy to have a great deal of foresight to use it defensively and a great initiator offensively. And because of the time limit, and it acting like a status effect, blizzard could easily implement abilities to counter rez. Sombra’s emp for one could easily nullify it. Lucio’s ult could also have the option to nullify rez. Moira and Reaper could have some kind of weird effect added to their passive or primary fire that nullifies it (but that would need serious tweeking and adjusting).

I also thought that Mercy probably should drop the whole “most consistent healer” title, because it’s obvious at this point that it’s holding her back (It’s either too good, or not good enough). If Blizzard wants her to be a main healer, she needs to follow the same set of guidelines a main healer has, such as putting her healing on a resource and giving her burst healing through an ability.

I was thinking an overheat mechanic could be implemented to her staff. Escentially, Mercy’s staff would have a limit to how much she could heal and damage buff (both would be on seperate meters) before her staff overheats. When that happens, her staff short circuits and can’t heal and/or damage buff for a short period of time. This would punish hard pocketing and would allow Mercy to juggle more often.

Of course to offset the resource, Mercy would gain more healing per second, and an actual E ability that gives her burst healing potential and more utility. I was thinking a single target, lock-on, burst heal, and a single target, damage debuff, hit-scan ability (depending on who Mercy is aiming at).

lol no……………………………….

I’d say if they make Valk as an ability, her fast self regen and chain healing should be removed. I mean, she got a massive boost to her mobility it would increase her survivability a little too much and shes not supposed to be an AoE healer, she is a single target main healer.

So she would just have in Valk, her flying. Thats it. Im not sure about her infinite ammo tho, maybe have it kept. I think it should be like a small burst of flight, like flying for 3s with a 15s cd, so its used only in emergencies or used when the time is right.

That’s what I said, remove those in favor of a 5% boost in damage/healing beams. It keeps her in line with being a single target healer.
