Mercy on the Experimental: Good Foundation, Poor Execution

I agree.
Now Mercy is unlocked for having Rez as E, this allow us and the team to discuss better.
If we keep Mercy as live, she won’t be able to change also if every other hero will change (as in OW2), because still a change in number, will break her. Now, with her Res as Ultimate, she can be changed in number and in skill, in particular her E without make her broken and giving her more possibilities to change. I hope this ExC for Mercy can be brought live, because finally she is unchained by Rez as E.
This Rez as Ultimate is the best “Mass” Rez able to the game

Valkyrie needs clearly a change. I’m okay with not having the moth and keep a minor cooldown (like 12s-15s maybe), otherwise, maybe, we could keep the channeling for the 3 seconds? I don’t know. Or maybe giving this Valkyrie a cleanse effect, that would be good to make this ability worth

I’d say they could even make it even more interesting:
make its beam (heal or boost) have a 2ndary effect of capping damage ally receives per instance
e.g. each instance limited to say 20damage or so (ability lasts for 3s anyways)
which means something like a soldier primary would be unaffected, but something like widow shots or pharah rockets would deal at most 20damage per shot landed on the beam target whilst effect is up.

they can remove the 70hps buff on it if needed for that effect or lower it to 60~65hps if they want.

sustain damage unaffected, but burst damage is targeted exclusively.

and heck it’d actually be more fitting of the name valkyrie.

And yet here you are.

So you want to swoop in and drop your opinion off in someone else’s thread.

But people aren’t allowed to disagree and respond?

That person was the one that initiated the argument in this thread by replying to me.

Regardless, what’s it matter to you? Are you their bodyguard or something?
Why don’t you contribute to the discussion instead of white-knighting around pointlessly?

Idea behind experimental was sound, but execution, indeed, was poor.

+Being able to adjust number of resurrected allies allows to compensate for inconsistent quality of players in most games
+Healing burst for mid-fight is finally here
-Resurrect cast time makes it unwise to choose position to use it, as you have to perform it asap, before enemy focuses on you
-E-Valkyrie needs number tweaks, as it’s way too low for single target

In general, it mostly needs number tweaks, rather than some fundamental changes, to be good.

Just as others already have and still continue to do so, the fundamentally terribly - designed, low skill - high reward Ultimate that is Mass Rez has no place in this game and no numerical change can completely solve this, hence why it was rightfully removed so many years ago.

And it never came back, because the only way it can exist without heavily damaging the health of the game is for it to be numerically underpowered. As this EXP proves, that makes Mass Rez unfun even for the Mercy player themselves.

And, of course, removing its restrictions isn’t a solution. It’s literally the worst possible choice to make, as it would lead to this Ultimate once again only existing so Mercy mains can have their fun at the expense of everyone else.

Quite a lot of DPS ultimates exist with that exact purpose, so it’s fair game.

No. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

They do, in this case. Ultimate is moment of glory for one player, that typically is moment of misery for others.

Which is fundamental part of PvP. So I do not see any justification behind limiting “unfun for others” factor to DPS ults only.

No. There’s a major difference between the inherent frustration streaming from failing to do something in a video game and mechanics who are designed around making the enemy feel miserable.

No, there is not. After all, if you play your cards right, it would be Mercy and her team miserable, not you.

“Inherent frustration from dying” is not same with “frustration from failing to save someone from death”. Which is more comparable with frustration from failing to get a kill, not necessary with dying in the process.

Overall,

Yes, I am not huge on Mercy, but I ran it and doing Valk on a keypress frankly just felt like a novelty, nothing more. Overall, I felt like the changes cheapened Mercy play, not enhanced it. IIRC, Geoff Goodman was considering the Super-Jump as a key press but so far no word on that.

Definetly increase it’s charge rate. Maybe reduce the cast time by a second/half a sec but otherwise yes.

In my humble, under-informed opinion, a 3 sec stronger blue beam on e instead would be cool. Maybe one that exclusively boosts abilities rather than bullet?

May as well just make it “3 seconds of both healing and boost increased”, kind of like Lucio with his Amp-It Up.

Also, and this is a console specific complaint, they again put the new ability on L2, basically removing the most comfortable button to use glide. At least with the current rez you can use it as long as you’re not close to a soul, now that button is just completely gone.

Please Blizz, let us map her glide separately on console, I refuse to use the X and lose the ability to look around when gliding.

I like the free flight aspect.

make mercy faster while its active please for the love of god

Valkyrie flight speed and duration, if I recall.

How is it that still no balance changer thought that Mass Rez needs an LoS and it would be okay?

My thoughts with Resurrect are that its cost should be slightly reduced, just a bit, and it should be single target instantaneous cast with no doubling up. And Valkyrie needs faster free flight with a reduced cooldown. 20 seconds is absurd. The most that would make sense is 15 and that’s only if she’s not crawling slowly through the air like her current Experimental version. It’s like flying with her in this state is shouting “Shoot me! Shoot me!” I mean this is how I would like her to play more so anyway.

Also come on guys, those of you who sat back in my matches waiting for the mass rez: why?! Everyone and their mother knows Tempo rez is better by this point. Were they all expecting instant cast time with invulnerability?? My matches were pretty grand otherwise so it was kind of shocking to have Mercys in those same matches doing the one thing people who hated Mercy complained about the most. They were literally doing the hide and rez. Are they trying to make people hate them? I didn’t get much chance to try out experimental mercy myself as the card disappeared after mostly playing tanks for the day. But when it comes back. Mercy is high on my list of characters to try out.
