And yet before her rework she was overlooked in favor of Lucio and Zenyatta. Even though Mercy healed more than the two of them together because Mass Rez was garbage. It was so garbage that first they had to buff it to Mercy could actually move while using it. Then they had to buff it so teammates come back faster because even without ult, the 3 second delay gave everyone time to kill Mercy and put themselves in position to kill everyone else. Lastly, they had to give her invulnerability during Mass Rez so it could actually be used. People remember the times she got the 5 man rezzes and forget the million to 1 ratio where she at most got three people in her Rez and used ult very rarely to attempt to get that mass rez. It was a bad ult and she was a bad support IN COMPARISON to the other options available even if it meant less healing. The rework and putting Rez on E was the problem.
In ult form it was garbage and in CD form its extremely powerful. So they can attempt a complete rework with rez still or attempt a tweaked revert with Valkyrie incorporated somehow. (Also remember they reverted her ult voice line so who knows? They might have been planning a revert for a while as the change happened after they said they werenât considering one). My point is, Resurrect isnt going away period. Its very powerful but that is in exchange for her complete reliance on her team to position herself and a lack of damage output. Every one of her abilities doesnât benefit her at all (GA and Rez are useless without a teammate as well as her heal or DB), in contrast to every other support. This is in spite of the fact that Mercy can deal a minimum of 100 damage per second landing only body shots, which is decent but it never sees use and thus her drawback. She gives up any protection she has and must resort to running away or whipping out her pistol to let another teammate die.
I think Lucio in his current form wouldâve gotten less play back then than Mercy. His reduced radius is what made him more situational and composition-based.
Considering it was such a bad ult in that it had to be buffed again and again and again to even be viable, how can you rationalize that? Even with Lucio and Zen doing less healing than Mercy together, Mercy was overlooked in favor of them. Symmetra had a higher pickrate than Mercy at that time. Mass Rez was the worst ultimate in the game.
She was in a good place before her rework. But blizzard decided to fix a problem that didnât need to be fixed. I donât like the current version of Mercy, but I think itâs time to look at the other supports instead.
This was back before they made the changes, and then when they had said âwe will change them if people donât like themâ
the changes would have been largely los - if you can hide behind it and survive a d.va nuke, then you wonât be rezed. no more rezing behind walls or from spawn. line of sight and area of effect would have been the first two things added.
Moira does more burst healing. Mercy still has a better average healing than Moira, even in Master and GM.
Moiraâs has no choice but to do damage to continue her healing output. Which is why she falls off so hard in higher eloâs, because itâs easy to deny her the chance of doing damage with barriers and snipers playing range.
1.5 seconds in any direction for 30m+bunny hop vs 6 second for 15m. No, Moira gets one chance to escape and if that fails she has to fight her flanker like every other healer aside from Mercy, and maybe Lucio.
As for getting away. Mercy always goes in a straight line, making for an easy hanzo shot.
Moira can go where she wants.
As for fighting, would you rather defend yourself against someone as moira or mercy?
Average =/= potential healing.
Most moira players go for some damage, but most mercy players donât.
If both focus only on healing the moira heals more.
And potential healing kind of goes out the window for Moira even more when you consider Mercy has the easiest healing mechanics.
Doesnât need to keep her healing target in vision once sheâs locked on.
Can heal through barriers
Doesnât require a resource to continue her healing output
Can both heal and play cat and mouse with flankers
Look, even in quad tank, Moira just canât maintain the amount of healing she does without doing damage, and itâs too easy to deny her that damage, which is exactly why she falls off.
Yet somehow, Mercy still Outheals Moira on average in every single Elo individually.
You can talk about potentials all you want but the average game doesnât always go smoothly. The facts are the facts and that data shows Mercy outheals Moira on average across all elos.
