Just replace rez with something else lol
Why does the most mobile, highest healing-output healer also get a resurrect? That’s why she’s a nightmare to balance. There’s a reason why Auriel is the hero with res in HotS instead of, like, Lucio or Alexstrasza or Rehgar.
Why replace it tho? Its like literally in the design of Mercy herself and the intro to her.

Mercy is literally designed after an angel, her name being Angela as well, not important but you get the emphasis on angel. Doesnt seem out of place if you ask me.
She wasnt a nightmare to balance pre-rework. Just sayin. She had the highest healing output, mobile and was able to ressurect a team instead of just one. Yet wasnt complained as much and wasnt even meta at the time.
It was only AFTER the rework she became a problem.

Because it’s an inherently problematic ability in this game. Maybe it’d be less so if it was given to a less mobile off-healer. I think there are plenty of substitutions that still fit her design.
Mass rez was a problem even if Mercy wasn’t particularly good. Same deal as Scatter. Imo, Mercy’s current state is still a net buff.
Also the wonderful tactic that all mercy mains used to love, the “Hide like a b*tch” move.

Blizzard dug themselves into a hole AFTER the rework and have been scrambling to water her down ever since.
They absolutely won’t revert or remove rez as an ability ever though because that was their answer to reworking her in the first place. They really think they did good with rez as an ability lol
Truth is, rez should be locked behind ult, and they really should just bring back mass rez. It wasn’t problematic, contrary to popular belief.
If you complain about the old rez then you were just angry at the possibility of a 5 man rez which was iconic and actually still pretty hard to pull off in most scenarios.
Hide and rez isn’t even that bad
Almost every DPS player hides/sneaks around before they use their ult sooo
I really don’t get what’s so bad about Mercy specifically hiding when she knows stuff was about to go down (Like grav) when other heroes do it but get literally no flak whatsoever for it.
Y’all live by a double standard and you know it. You’re not happy with old rez or new form of her? You literally just want rez removed but that’s not an option. It’s part of her identity and why so many of us play Mercy. That epic and unique ability to resurrect a player along with everything else about her.

But as is, it would literally cause a riot if that were to happen. First you change Mercy’s iconic ult to just a basic E ability with a flying heal bot, then removing (if we were to remove it) her iconic “Heroes Never Die!”, like in all of her animatics/
Shes presented a guardian angel rising up the fallen heroes, would be even worse cuz shed be replaced in Junkenstein since theres no point if shes cant rez anyone anymore. Thatd be just creating a new hero and something entirely different.
Problem with Mass rez back then was just the hide and rez strat which enabled the SR exploit. Which would have been fixed if they had given Mass Rez, LoS requirement and a 0.5-1s casting time to counter it before its activated like Lucios ult. The SR thing was fixed like within the month of the rework so there wont be boosted Mercy players.
And her E ability could have just been something simpler that would incentivize Mercy players for being active, a cleanse ability like a CC immunity or Valkyrie (just flying only) for a short amount of time with a long cd.
Simple things that needed simple fixes. Mercys state now is just, meh. Its a 50/50. A net buff for those who like Valk and those who hate Mercy and a nerf to those who missed Mercy’s earnable Rez which has split Mercy players as well.
Imo, problem I have with Rez is that its handed to you every 30s which a lot of people find annoying. You didnt earn it, its just there.
